I understand that in parts of the sub-continent they make flip-flops out of used car tyres.

Anyway what are you moaning for? I've got three of the s*ds to shoe and the girl takes ladies size eight.
Try finding "acceptable to the school" shoes in that size that she is willing to wear!!!! evil:
Last term it took two days and 23 shops before all parties were satisfied and she managed to destroy them in a half of a term. And the decision of the manufacturer to whom they were returned was "unacceptable level of use"

Sorry didn't mean to but shoes are a bone of contention in this house.
I'm never sure (even after all these years) whether to buy cheap and often or expensive and expect them to last.

At least two puns in there for DS

I have just learned that it is called "Value engineering" ie making use of a product that has worn out to make another product.
Car Tyre Sandals being an example.

Can't see daughter agreeing to wear them though. noooo:

I have some car tyre sandals I bought in Mexico years ago. Trouble is they were made out of lorry tyres (I have big feet) and I can barely lift them off the ground.  cry:

Well I suppose the foot size admission explains why you seem to so often put "your foot in it"  whistle:

Upon your visit it may be worth a detour via Dalton where you will find Furness Footwear, a cracking shop for both children AND adults. I got a pair of Reebok trainers for ?10 ( should have been ?40 )

failing that just paint his feet black so it appears that he is wearing shoes
