Has someone somewhere gone completely mad?
It will define the venues we build and the Games we hold and act
It certainly does ~ eeek:

It looks like one of those fit the blocks in the right holes games. What a load of toss.

Unfinished ~ that's the word that comes to mind.
On the BBC website 82% currently give it the wooden spoon.

So 82 out of every hundred people will be ignored ~ nothing new there then

Come on, how much did it cost?
"Farkeley, Minge and Diatribe, the graphic designers famous for the tiling in the gents at Euston, said 'we were honoured to support the Olympics and slashed our usual fee to ?371m', according to the BBC"

They (Locog) said they were after something 'that would capture the hearts and minds of everyone, give them an emotional attachment'
Well they've half managed it. Theyve captured the minds of everyone who has seen it regardless of race colour or creed. We are all asking what the hell is it. rubschin:
My guess is that its going be representative of the state of the olympic buildings we are rushing to build before 2012.

Agreed?
Uncle?s ?unfinished? comment sums it up ? just like the stadium and all other facilities are likely to be on the big day.

You couldnt make this up, apparently there is now an epilepsy risk regarding the logo:
The new logo for the 2012 London Olympic Games is to be removed from the organisers' website after fears it could trigger epileptic fits.
Prof Graham Harding, who developed the test used to measure photo-sensitivity levels in TV material, said it should not be broadcast.
Charity Epilepsy Action said it had received calls from people who suffered fits after seeing the animated logo.
Organisers London 2012 said it was looking into it as a matter of urgency.
Professor Harding is an expert clinical neuro-physiology and he designed a test which all moving adverts need to undergo to check they will not trigger a reaction in people with epilepsy.
He told BBC London 94.9FM: "The logo should not be shown on TV at all at the moment.
"It fails Harding FPA machine test which is the machine the television industry uses to test images.
"And so it does not comply with Ofcom guidelines and is in contravention of them."
London 2012 told BBC London: "We are taking it very seriously and are looking into it as a matter of urgency."
Christopher Filmer rang BBC London 94.9FM to say he suffered a seizure while watching the logo on television and his girlfriend also suffered a fit and needed hospital treatment.
"The logo came up on TV and I was thinking about the 2012 and then I was out," he said.
Epilepsy Action said it had been a hot topic on its website's messageboards.

Maybe its a cunning plan:
"Hey that (french/german/insert as appropriate as we never win any golds anyway) bugger is going to beat our athlete"
"Like hell he is.......UNLEASH THE LOGO"
The British athlete closes his eyes and runs to voctory leaving all the others having fits. eyes:

While I think that in the main Red Ken is more than a bit of a tit he's gone up in my estimation now:
Creators of footage promoting the 2012 Olympics should not be paid after it emerged it could trigger an epileptic seizure, London's mayor has said.
Ken Livingstone's comments came after a segment of the animated footage had to be removed from the organisers' website on the advice of experts.
He said the designer should not be paid a penny for the "catastrophic mistake".
Charity Epilepsy Action said it had received 18 calls from people who had suffered fits after watching the clip.
Ripple effect
The film, which was unveiled along with the logo for the London Games on Monday, is now being re-edited by London 2012.
Mr Livingstone said: "I wouldn't pay him a penny for having made such a catastrophic mistake.
"Who would go into a firm like that again and ask them to do that work. This is a pretty basic thing."
Organisers said the footage concerned showed a "diver diving into a pool which had a multi-colour ripple effect".
The spokeswoman said: "We are taking it very seriously and are looking into it as a matter of urgency."
After its release Prof Graham Harding, who developed the test used to measure photo-sensitivity levels in TV material, said it should not be broadcast again.
Simon Wigglesworth from Epilepsy Action said he was shocked at the choice of animation.
"The one thing most people know... about epilepsy is that flashing lights and flashing images can cause them problems.
"The reality is there is only about 5% of people with epilepsy for whom photosensitivity is an issue. That's still 23,000 people."
The new logo, which cost ?400,000 to develop, has also been heavily criticised and more than 38,000 people have signed an online petition to have it scrapped.
The BBC News website invited users to send in suggestions for alternative logos, and has so far received more than 500.
Although I would have been more inclined to say that they shouldnt have been paid as it look shyte. Most of us had to be told that it is says 2012 as opposed to just being some random shapes scrawled by a demented gerbil.

I am seriously thinking about resigning from The Design Council, the Design Business Association, the Victoria & Albert Museum Friends Society, the Royal Academy and any other professional body that has any links to the advertising agency Wolff Olins as a result of this. evil: evil: evil:
Even my mate Stephen has had his say...
Design guru Stephen Bayley condemned it as "a puerile mess, an artistic flop and a commercial scandal".

Well I think the juxstaposed balance between the geometric shapes creates a defined brand equity that will be both memorable and familiar allowing the definitive shapes to align in the consumers consiousness and therefore become accessible to all demographics both epileptic and cynical while offering 'homage to the brilliant cubist art that was so prevalant at the turn of the 1900's through the visionary experimentation of hard forms working together in a blend of parastic symbiotic force.....
...No... it's crap!
