Title: Quiet today
Post by: Darwins Selection on June 01, 2007, 11:54:56 AM
I assume Barman is having a birthday treat, perhaps provided by wench.

There is a very, very large cake on a trolley in the corridor outside the gents and there are faint sounds of the 'Volga Boatman' being sung inside it.

Our birthday boy is certainly popular as I answered the phone for him and apparently some chaps from the Inland Revenue have a surprise arranged for him today as well.

Meanwhile, it seems to be 'help yourself day' in the snug.

That gang of Liverpudliar roofers in the public bar are getting rather rowdy as they drink their way through a pile of cash they got from "some daft Count" who has recently been fleeced over repairs to the roof, presumably of his stately home?

The barman was up very early, singing "Happy Birthday to Me" and sobbing into his hankie.
I assume some outing was planned for the day as I have not heard from him since.

Other news of the day is that I was, at 11.05hrs, barred from the "Other Place"

Not seen nor heard from Wench but wasn't she going to the garden centre today?

The "Other Place" is also very quiet.

Numbers have popped in, had a read and vanished without a word throughout the morning.

As for the Liverpudlian Roofers ~ least said, soonest mended would seem the best policy there. Mrs Nick will no doubt have much to say over the weekend and, I am confident, Nick will give us a digest in time.

I note that Nick has given us the first update as I have been typing.

Que?

I have been having a most strange morning!

I received an e mail via my website which contained an unusual but interesting business proposition. It was lengthy. It was signed by a man with an unusual name. I recognised the name. He is my ex-BIL who I have not seen in 20 years. I called him to discuss the idea. It was only after 20 minutes that I told him who I was. It got very odd after that!!

We are, however, in business!

I survived the encounter. My little magic box is ticking away merrily and the battery is looking good for a few more years yet. Next check needed in three months ~ I did ask should I start queuing now but they told me not to be cheeky as they were only running 90 minutes late ~ which they seemed to think was good going. Considering they started at 9.30 and my appointment was for 11.10 I cannot imagine what they would think doing badly.

Oh and I also nipped into the Vampires Cave and they took some blood samples.

And let me guess ~ there were at least five fat nurses looking after the clinic, three talking whilst hugging patient files to their more than ample bosoms, one hovering round the consulting room door in case any of you ladies demanded a chaperon and one weighing everyone who came in and handing a foil pudding basin to those who had not brought a sample with them. The Consultant would have seen perhaps three of you whilst two junior doctors saw everyone else ~ and I bet neither of those two buggers was white or had an adequate command of the English language.

Basra.
A horrible Day, we got shot on the way, and all for some barrells of oil you know.
On the way back, i was shot in the back, and we opened a bottle of morphine.
Dropping a few of our chemical bombs, as the kurds fell down

I finish for Christmas in about an hour. Not back till Jan 3rd. Longest break I have had for a long while. But first we must be frog marched onto a coach at gunpoint, driven to a country pub and be force fed and boozed for a couple of hours. Still, there a good crowd here so no hardship.

I shall therefore be very quiet over the next couple of weeks though no doubt I shall pop in now and then to admire my profile.  eyes:
