I've just seen on the news that a judge in America has just ordered Google to give the media company Viacom details of EVERY video ever watched on there. It looks like this will include login and ISP info of everybody who has watched a youtube vid.
The implications regarding personal privacy are frightening.

Nah, not me... I never look at it... never... whistle:

Given that most of the vids on here are from Youtube I think you may be buggered BM point:

Not me!!! eeek:

Define "use" in this context?
-
Have you ever watched or uploaded content to the site Darwin. If so then your IP and/or login details as well as data on all the content you've accessed on the site will soon be the property of Viacom.

Qualified only by the fact that Google intend to appeal against the Judge's decision and given that this is the USA legal system the appeals could go on forever.
-
Nomally I'd agree but the US justice system has been more then a little sympathetic to the media and entertainment companies when it comes to the demon that is piracy lately so this could be over a lot sooner than expected.
What I'd be interested to see is a legal challenge taking place from outside of the US. Seeing as Youtube is a worlwide brand now the ruling has global privacy issues.

Indeed ~ but of course since that judgement was handed down in an American Court by an American judge I doubt if they even considered that the world doesn't begin on the East coast of the US and end on the West coast. They really have no idea what happens beyond their borders. Half their forces in Iraq still think they are in the Arizona Desert. ::)
