You wait!
Yes I saw that earlier. Birthday parties are a social minefield best avoided. We have been through agonies with all three of our children over the years.
AND I agree with you .... it will happen here too.

His "best friend" is having a party this afternoon. The Boy is not invited. It seems she regards him as a "special " friend and does not want him mixed up with other kids.
Fine by us!

Minimus was "not invited" to a class mates party yesterday. When the child announced earlier in the week that Minimus was not to attend (why do they have to do that?) my little hero was ready with his answer: "I wouldn't come anyway 'cos I am going to the Beaver's picnic and sports day" The Birthday Boy was then heard whining to his mother that he wanted to go to the Beaver's party instead of his own. Minimus, still on the ball, put on his serious face and politely informed the mother that her child couldn't go as he was not a "Beaver".
The class teacher delighted in reporting all this to us.

I bet a "Beaver's picnic" is not what my smutty mind is conjuring up?

'Fraid not ~ "Beavers" are the stepping stone into Cubs and thereafter Scouts.
Like "Rainbows" are to the Brownies and thence Guides.
That said as the Beavers are all young boys twixt the ages of 6 and 8 it is not unreasonable to assume that they mostly come equipped with Yummy Mummies so taking the little lad along does present the opportunity for much senile ogling on my part eyes:

Up the Akela!
-
Curiously enough "Akela" (heads up the Cub Pack attended by Snoopy Minor) is the husband of "Baloo" who runs the Beavers ~ tho' they are pretty much interchangable he "assists" with the Beavers and she with the Cubs. Getting more helpers is the big problem.

lets not forget the rainbows/brownies/guides etc that my daughter went too also, they used to go to something nearly every week nite, had better social life than us did!

To be honest having done all this Cubs/Brownies stuff thirty plus years ago, with the first family, I am surprised at how little things have changed. The biggest difference is that now I just look on whereas back then I could be more "involved".
