... or they talking bollocks?
Fourth plinth winners announced (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/london/7468750.stm)
Gormley's entry: "Through elevation onto the plinth and removal from common ground, the body becomes a metaphor, a symbol and allows us to reflect on the diversity, vulnerability and particularity of the individual in contemporary society."
Shonibare's entry: "For me it's a celebration of London's immense ethnic wealth, giving expression to and honouring the many cultures and ethnicities that are still breathing precious wind into the sails of the UK."

Who was it who said there has never been a statue raised to a committee?

Save the plinth for a statue of Queen Elizabeth II (when the time comes of course) She certainly looks set fair to be our longest reigning monarch of all time and even if she only comes second to Victoria it makes sense as QV already has a statue at the other end of the Mall.

I would like to think that was also a clever play on Snoopys reference to "QV", but somehow. . . .
