Right. I have just burned my Installer CD and given it a quick run on a work PC.
Tonight I intend to set up a dual boot on my older laptop which is a bit slow on XP. Will it run faster with Linux? All I do with it is attach it to my wireless network and access web pages and possibly MSN or equivalent.
Has anyone done this? How frightened should I be? scared2:

Ummm...
It will work great - much faster than XP.
Just one thing about dual boot tho... don't do it! scared2:
I've had a couple of problems with dual-booting XP/Linux...
-
PS I run Ubunto here and Mandriva...
-
mmm. I have no problem dumping XP off said laptop. Will the Ubuntu CD just do a clean Linux install?

Thats not a very nice thing to say about LL whistle:
To be honest most of the people I know who have used Ubuntu for work machines tend not to go back to XP. The only ones I know who have gone back or tried dabbling in dual boots are game heads.
-
Now downloading the Mandriva one as well. Is there any real difference?
-
game heads.

People who play computer games on their PC's Darwin. I admit I do personally come under that category. redface:

To me "the game" is something that gentlemen shoot at and ladies go on.

In that case I'm almost afraid to mention that one of the games I'm currently playing is called Stalker. God knows where you are going to end up with that Darwin. eeek:
