I would have thought the Unions would have fully supported any attempt to ban drinking on public transport ~ but oh no! "What about the risk to our members when they try to enforce this?" they bleat. The risk is probably less than the station staff getting a kicking form some drunken lout I would have imagined. If ever there was a contrived argument to oppose Boris because he is not NuLabour this is one.

Accident, obviously shrugs: It could happen to anyone!

Enforcement is the problem though

400 uniformed support officers is a good start. When did you last see any staff on the Tube other than sat in the secure cab? Station staff get all the sh*t now .... this sort of measure can only help them.

Following on from my lunchtime sandwich (see The Restaurant), I see Boris has been cutting sarnies  eeek:

Quote
Boris's enthusiasm for slashing Ken's waste has certainly caused a buzz at City Hall. He has axed the ludicrous 40-a-day Morning Star subscription and today took a scythe to the Ken propaganda sheet, The Londoner.
But he may have overreached himself today when he told Nick Ferrari on LBC that he had also decided to cut Ken's sandwich run, implying that the old regime had gorged themselves on ciabattas and bloomers at the taxpayers' expense.
"I've cut the sandwiches that are delivered to the top floor, by the way, you should know," he said. When asked: "What was in the sandwiches?", he replied: "I tell you, they were uncommonly good sandwiches and I feasted on them while they were there, but they've gone."
