This is probably as old as Tim Bernard-Lee's leather patched elbows but what the hell.
I've had an email in my inbox which has been bounced back from a recipient. Fine. Only I don't recognize the recipient and I never sent them the email.
The email was a tad porny if I recall (I deleted it automatically but I had second thoughts afterwards), but...
WTF is going on? Filters adjustment anyone?
confused: as ever

A pox on spammers! cussing:
They've basically used your e-mail addy as the return address for a mass mailing...
I gout hundreds of 'cannot be delivered' e-mails the other day - bastards!
And there is fuck all that you or your ISP can do about it! Banghead

So, let me get this right. My existing clients scared2: may now be receiving emails offering HD DVD's of anal with Margerita and my Active Marketing Programme might include offers of Viagra and penis enlargement to potential new clients? eeek:
Yay, yay and thrice yay, I am truly cattle trucked confused:
Should I ditch my ISP? Will it be the same if I keep my domain name?
Banghead Banghead Banghead

It'll happen no matter what .... The only consolation is that it is happening to everyone else ~ so your clients will understand.
rubschin: Perhaps a good idea a mass mailing "Direct from Pastis" explaining that this has happened and including a special code word that you will use in the "Subject" of any message you send them in future so that they can be sure that what they open is from you personally. This would also demonstrate that you are a considerate and caring person who tries his best to look after his "special" clients and earn you a few brownie points.
There is no charge for this marketing and promotional consultation ;)

lol: Taken in the spirit intended!
That's not a bad idea - gives me the opportunity to contact previous customers that I'd struck off the list as well. I'll be a Spin-Meister yet! lol:
How's your fish pie going?

In the oven, waiting to be switched on ~ The two boys have elected to have Fish Fingers and Chips which I have just put in front of them. Lashings of tomato ketchup for the littlest sick2:
Mrs S#2 is still out and not due back until 18.30 - 19.00 (Coach trip to a craft fair with cronies) so the boys will be ready for bed when she gets in. Teenage Hormone Wreck and the two of us will enjoy the Fishpie once SWMBO has said hello and goodnight to the little ones. They don't normally go up quite that early but the larger one is off to Cardiff for two days with his school so a very early start (in his terms) in the morning .... coach pick-up at school is at 7.30 which means I'll be dragging him from his slumbers at 6am.

Excellent planning. Hope it all goes by the book.
My Pork in Cider has transmuted to Pork Siciliana with lashings of red wine, some of which are being imbibed by the chef - hic.
I will ponder email transmissions tomorrow after a substantial FEB ;)

I would very much doubt it…
They will have their own mailing list that they have collected from various sources - including your own address prolly.
They just chose your address randomly as the return address to help cover their tracks.
So, it is unlikely that a large percentage of your clients will be on the list – if any.
And, as Snoopy says, it is common enough now that most people are aware of it.
The piss-boiling thing is that everybody says that nothing can be done about it because the e-mails are sent from abroad or often sent from other people’s systems using virus programs. However, it doesn’t take Einstein to realise that if they are promoting or selling something you only have to follow that link to the source…

I just logged into my work email (to see if a building had fallen on the server) and found a load of these in my inbox. We use highly effective spam filters so I was supprised by the quantity that had gotten through.
I just checked the filters and there was a massive surge in incoming email to our domain yesterday.
Obvouisly some eastern european spam lord pressed the button. May they die a violent, painful yet lonely death soon. happy088

Once they get hold of a valid e-mail addy the spam filters are buggered as all the messages are ‘undelivered’. Banghead
They are complete utter, utter bastards! Angry9:
The global cost of spam and viruses must run into… oh prolly more than the UK’s benefits payments… noooo:

The occasional Rolex/enlargement/casino ones get through at work, but last week we started getting these "UNDELIVERABLE" ones allegedly sent from my and other addresses. As others have said, so far our IT bods seem unable to stop them. None of the above ever actually get to my inbox, they sit in the "spam manager" inbox awaiting deletion

You mean they might not be genuine Rolex watches, it might not get bigger and I won't make thousands a month?
Bugger!
