Power corrupts ~ absolute power corrupts absolutely.

It wouldn't worry me so much if the Council (ie the elected representatives) knew about it but they never do. It is the army of petty officials who really hold all the power. Councillors are nothing more than rubber stamps for whatever policies the non elected officers choose to implement and when caught out the b@st@rds always have an EC Directive to hide behind.

We could in fact do away with all elected persons in this country because none of them actually hold any real power. The Civil Service, both in the UK and Europe, make all the decisions and then choose which ones to enforce.
We are "governed" in name only by an emasculated body of politicians and we are paying good money for it. noooo:
