Title: Band of Brothers
Post by: Bar Wench on March 10, 2008, 08:59:33 AM
Did anyone watch this first time around? I was lent the dvd box set on Friday. I sat and watched the entire thing through on Saturday. When the Americans get something right they are truly outstanding. Amazing piece of television.

If you like 'Saving private Ryan' you'll like band of brothers, made by Speilberg and tom hanks about the same subject but fron D-day to Germany.

In my defense, whilst I do watch/read a lot of fluff I can do the good stuff too.

Band of Brothers was stunning not only in terms of acting, but the cinematography and the shooting style was more like that of a big budget film than a tv programme.

TBH I didn't really rate "Saving Ryan's Privates" much ...... too much F'ing Yanks winning the war on their own for my taste.

Yep, seen it. Excellent series.  happy088

I didn't think Saving Private Ryan was about the yanks winning the war on their own. It was a small sector of the front and a small engagement.

And actually, I think the tankbuster plane at the end was either a Typoon or Tempest, a British plane.

I'm back on the West Wing again now though.

Maybe that's the reason they need the makeover BaldyMort. Wouldnt be much of an extreme show if they all looked like Beyonce to begin with.  point:

I could be wrong but wasnt there a sequel to the book or did the author just do the same kind of thing with a different unit?
