In "another place", many of the grumps are based on the UK, by default on the part of the government, the people will be faced by the prospect of Sharia Law and the threat of dominance by an "alien power".
Up to date, I have argued that this threat cannot be met by open confrontation with "mad mullah" groups, but rather by recruiting the aid of the predominent body of moderatee decent Muslims.
By the sheer weight of argument against this position and eveidence of real anxiety on the part of my British friends, I am beginning to shift my ground and am beginning to believe that these fears are not just Islamaphobic !
How say you ?

I disagree, this Islamaphobia is way over the top. Whipped up by the media and condoned by a government who sees it as a means to control the population. Most of the 'terrorist' threats exposed are laughable, amateur in the extreme. Occasionally they get lucky and I'm sorry for those who have suffered but I am not going to get worried.

The final battle will happen one day. We've been building to it for centuries. At the moment and assuming the Chinese keep out we will win but it will be very nasty.
The stupid thing is we all believe in the same God in whose name this nonsense goes on.
Please I know many of you don't personally believe in God but that is not the point .... we have two religions, believing in the one God but disagreeing about how His message reached us and how it should be interpreted. That IMHO is the root problem..

While I dont believe Snoop I think you may have a point. Christianity, Judaisim and Islam all came from the same source. I suspect the difference between them has been because of centuries of personal interpretation by powerful members of each religion looking out for their own interests.

I did qualify that statement Berek. When I said we all believe in the same God I did not mean us as individuals but the Christian Countries, the Islamic Countries etc.

I agree that islamaphobia is over the top… I doubt if the bloodbath with be triggered by a terrorist ‘spectacular’. After all, the paddies tried for thirty years and yet we didn’t have people throwing stones at road menders… If anything, the terrorist ‘spectaculars’ like ‘7/7’ probably unite the population – including the muslims - against the terrorists…
But…
I think there is a problem with the insidious way that our culture and values are being destroyed by this government’s bizarre ‘multiculturalism’ experiment…
It seems that Labour is intent on chipping away at just about everything that people consider to be ‘British’ the proms for instance. We’ll wake up one day soon and we won’t recognise the country of our birth…
To the average man in the street it probably doesn’t matter if the ‘damage’ is done by muslims, Africans, Poles or anybody else that the government seems so keen to accommodate at the cost of changing the country to suit them. Road signs in Polish, train stations in Urdu (or whatever Southall station is covered in now), music of black origin awards, etc. The cumulative effect will be to divide the indigenous population from ‘the immigrants’ – even if they’ve been here for generations.
It might be a minor event which kicks it all off but it will be difficult to stop once the violence has started.

I read somehwere recently that 50% of the Poles had gone home, taking enough loot to fuel a housing price boom back there.
Lil Bruvver what works as a butcher for a local wholesaler says that the immigrant Poles his bosses employed and housed in three properties, bought for the purpose, have mostly gone home and the bosses are now casting round among the other "istans" that have recently joined the EU.
If this applies across the country then I bet those "Right On" inclusive Councils are kicking themselves at the thought of changing all the road signs again ..... but then again ..... why should they? Not their money is it evil:
