Title: Windows AGAIN
Post by: Snoopy on February 19, 2008, 01:27:53 PM
My PC is back .... still not right so I've told the geek where to put his invoice.

Here's a question though .............. Why does Windows insist on asking me if I am sure that I really want to do whatever I instruct it to do.
eg ... I delete spam email ... it says "Are you sure you want to delete this item". I say yes ... It sends the spam to the deleted box. I click to empty the deleted box, it asks me "Are you sure you wish to delete this item in the delete box?" It asks me this for each and every single fvcking item. Why will it not just delete what I tell it to delete in the first place?  cussing:

I had a clever idea ...... I'll get rid of the delete box and then when I press delete the item will vanish .... "You cannot send this to your delete box as it has been removed .... please consult the manual and reinstall a delete box"  Banghead

I am beginning to feel like "Dave" in "2001 a Space Odyssey" The computer is taking over my life.
If when I shut down tonight it wont let me I'll see you all again at the new dawn.  tunble:

Simple Snoop, Microsoft is an american company and with the huge number of people who actually use their product they are terrified that some technologically challenged gormless eejit is going to sue them because they weren't asked if they really wanted to 'Delete C: Drive' or something stupid like that.

At the moment Outlook Express.

I have been using Thunderbird for yonks but the Geek lost all the settings when he "re-installed" XP so I needs must download all the Mozilla stuff again. But frankly I can't be arsed .... this PC is going next week and I'll get a new one. I have a new flat screen, an optical mouse etc so I only need a tower and I'll get one to my spec ~ prolly Linux ~ just as soon as the treasurer tells me the latest batch of invoices have been paid and the cheques are in the bank.

I wasn't really looking for a cure .... just having a rant about Windows. angry037

Doesn't a ctrl+delete delete it without it going through the recycle bin?

Yes I know but sometimes I can help!  sad24:

I know if I ctrl+F8 an item out of my files it gets deleted without hitting the recycle bin.

I'd be careful here BM, I suspect that you are on shaky ground as Wenchy knows how to program the video..  point:

I think it is a fallacy that you can see any man-made object from orbit isn’t it?

Although I believe that from Concorde at 60,000 feet you could see the curvature of Wenchy’s bottom…  whistle:

Shift + delete does the trick on "normal" Outlook, not sure if it's different on Express.

To be fair Wenchy the main reason Baldymort would have made the comment is that he is no longer allowed outside without a hat as the light reflecting of his baldybonce can blind any nearby pilot at 80,000 feet if they are looking in the wrong direction...  8)

Tried all your suggestions with the latest batch of spam. Windows still asks "Are you sure you wish to permanently delete these items?"

It does not respond when I type in "Fvcking YES!"  Banghead
