rubschin: Do they transfer all the crackles and scratches as well? I ask 'cos we have a tunrtable but SWMBO wishes to transfer stuff to CD and I am a confirmed vinyl man.

you get Audacity Sound Editor software with it that you can use to remove any crackles etc, it also comes with a more basic sound editor

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Audacity

when I ordered it I was chuffed with Maplins, it arrived 2 days after I placed the order

I shall consider this .... but I like the crackles and hissing of vinyl.

I have one, the transfer process is a bit tedious and. as Berek wrote, good for a rainy day. You don't have to do the sound clean-up and it isn't perfect anyway.

I also saw recently an advert for a box that connects your own turntable to a PC and does the same job.

That might be better ... for a rainy day when the family are all at work or school and I can have a good wallow in nostalgia ...... I'm welling up already sad24:

I was thinking of the 80's the other day, it brought tears to my eyes, it may have been Thatchers Britain but they were my salad years sad24:

Blimey .... you're only a bairn.

I love the fifties and sixties music which is why I need the house to my elderly self.
Not so much salad days .... more boiled cabbage but I do still have my ration card.sad24:

Errrrr ......... My eldest boy is 40 this year

Mrs S#2 delights in telling people that I got married to Mrs S#1 the same year that she (#2) joined the Brownies.

Easy, peasy.

I hadn't adjusted the counterweight properly, thus lots of skipping. Rectified now.  cloud9:

That's the easy bit, the tedious bit of marking and naming the tracks and turning it ito a digital album is yet to come.

I don't think I've touched it for over a year.

I know, I wired up my old deck, pre-amplifier, etc. to my sound card...

Was very pleased with it all until you have to re-name everything... although I think I found some software that recognised breaks in tracks and separated them automatically...  rubschin:

O.K.  - see if you can find The Stingrays "Live Retaliation" anywhere on CD. All I seem to find are sites that tell me the vinyl is worth ?7 - ?104 depending on condition.

All things mechanical, electrical and technical hate me at the moment - I'm sure Skynet is actually really and not just in Terminator films  scared2:

I use VinylStudio - it will search interweb for album/track info, makes life a lot easier.

Bought a stereo phono preamp to connect turntable to pc, rest was a doddle.
