Often because the talentless b@st@rds of today cannot come up with anything better.

That said some "covers" are better than the original. "Over the Rainbow" by July Garland was a cute song. The "cover" by Eva Cassidy is sensational.
Rod Stewart (NOT one of my favourites) makes a very good job of many standards in his "Great American Songbook" series ~ for example his duet with Dolly Parton on "Baby it's Cold Outside" is sexy to the point of pornography.

I guess you pays yer money and takes yer choice.

GOS ~ To answer your question seriously:

"We'll Meet Again" was originally recorded by Benny Goodman but popularised as a "Wartime" song by Vera. So in answer to your question .... Yes she has but in compensation for this devastating blow to your heroine click on the link to hear her sing it.

To be fair I quite like Ozzy, he's completely batty (pardon the pun) but compared to some of the rubbish being peddled as music these days he actually seems to sing in tune.

Curiosity got the better of me so I put cover versionin to youtube to see what would come up

Alannis Morrisette does Fergie (still a lousy song but far better than the original)

Johnny Cash doing an amazing cover of a Nine Inch Nails track
