Microshaft are after Yahoo. Which appears to be 'ailing'. What a board meeting that must have been:
Bill : We need to compete more with Google, why arent we?
Toady1: Because we are regarded by most computer users as gits sir.
Bill : Am I a git?
Toady2 : No sir, you are a prophet of the new millenium.
Bill : Right. So what do we do?
Toady1 : Lets buy McDonalds and offer free wireless internet eccess.
Toady2 : Twat.
Toady1 : OK. Lets buy Yahoo and kick some Google ass!
Bill : How much will that cost?
Toady1 : $44.6 billion and a free copy of Vista Ultimate.
Bill : OK lets do it.
So my hotmail account will merge with my Yahoo account and I will ignore both and continue using Gmail.
What else will this merger of giants mean?
Who cares?

It certainly seems that the world is not enough for Microsoft. I suppose that when a business reaches a certain size they just have to keep expanding or implode.
But then I have never understood why people, like the Rolling Stones for example, having made more money than they can spend in their lifetimes feel the need to keep going long after their natural "sell by date". I love the Stones, have done since the very beginning but do they really need to keep touring with all the associated grief to their aging bodies just to pay their taxes? Is it the need for the applause that keeps them going? Or is it that once you have a lot of money you just want more and more?

I've been a life-long fan (well since I began to appreciate music properly). We went to see them in 1989 "because they probably won't tour again at their age will they" confused: confused:

They've gone past the doing it for money stage and are doing it because they enjoy it too much to give up now.

Sort of "They do it because they can" I suppose. It figures.

Google are not happy bunnies and have started the war of words:
"While the internet rewards competitive innovation, Microsoft has frequently sought to establish proprietary monopolies - and then leverage its dominance into new, adjacent markets,"
Which i would translate as "Gates & Co are power crazed madmen who want to rule the world."
-
Nothing new there then
-
The deal isnt certain yet, Yahoo are also reconsidering earlier talks made with Google as an alternative
