Title: Mould
Post by: Bar Wench on January 18, 2008, 09:42:39 AM
HELP ME!

Went into the spare room last night and pulled the sofa bed away from the wall and discovered HUGE patch of mould. What can I do? What gets rid of the bloody stuff? I rent so please don't suggest anything structural.  sad24:

I know you dont want to hear any structual factors as you are renting but do you know what caused the mould to form in the first place? Is it a load bearing wall, partition wall covering water pipes etc?

Mould can arise from condensation. Heavy breathing can cause this. As can lack of ventilation.

True Nick, I was just pointing out to Wench that it could be a symptom of a larger problem and the would need to check it in case the Landlord is needed (been there, done that, found out the hard way).

I rent

Call the Landlord?

Failing that, why not turn it into a feature?

Can't be arsed with the rental agency they are shite. Far better if I can sort it out myself.

Think it might be an air circulation issue, we don't spend much time in there and we don't have the heating on much in general as I HATE a hot house. So have opened the window, pulled everything away from the walls and will buy some mildew/mould stuff this evening and have a go at it Sunday. If that doesn't seem to have an effect then I will call the agency.

I need a new tv aerial and it's taking them forever to sort that out so god knows how long the mould thing would take them.

If you leave the window open until Sunday you won't have a TV so the aerial won't matter.

It's a small sort of leaning top window. You wouldn't get a person through it.

Besides which I meant when someone is at home.  Banghead
