Did anyone here notice that, even by conservative estimates, 40,000 civil servants did not turn up for work today?
How about you lot down in London ~ were there fewer people on the trains and tubes today?
Did Newcastle grind to a halt? Were the shops in Swansea full of grey people doing their shopping?
WTF do all these people do? (other than lose CD-Rs with sensitive information on)

I read it was 80,000!
It's called a job creation scheme.

Union says 80,000, Government says 40.000, You pays your money and takes your choice. I did qualify the figure by saying even by conservative (note the small c) estimates.
The point is the impact seems very low for so many not working.

Didn't notice a ha'peth of difference round my way (London), but then perhaps I didn't require the service of a Servant... and I can't remember the last time one of them was particularly civil.
