Title: Another crisis for Brown
Post by: Barman on November 27, 2007, 08:01:10 AM
Quote from: BBC Web Shite
Just a few hours after Gordon Brown attempted to move on from his recent setbacks and yet again draw a line under the Blair years, he was engulfed by a new party funding row that threatened to re-open all the old wounds.

The resignation of Labour's general secretary, Peter Watt, over the "hidden donations" from a wealthy businessman will revive memories of the darkest days of Tony Blair's final months in power which were marked by the cash-for-honours affair.

The beginning of the end or just the end of the beginning?  rubschin:

Asked if he knew Mr Abrahams Mr Brown said: "I am sure I may have met him but I have no recollection of any conversations about any of these issues.

"I had no knowledge until Saturday night, either of the donations or of the practice which had grown up where they were improperly declared to the Electoral Commission. No knowledge at all."

This story gets better and better – hear that liar Blears on the radio yesterday afternoon, clearly under pressure!  point:

Begs a questions though – who trains politicians to become such accomplished odious liars?

When they go into politics is there a special ‘room in Westminster where they go and pass a training course in avoiding answering questions and bending the ‘truth’ to suit their needs?

It’s amazing how similar they are when being interviewed…

Bastards, every single odious one of them!  cussing:

Brown under fire over donations

Quote from: BBC Web Shite
Gordon Brown's competence as PM has come under fire during heated Commons exchanges following the donations row.
David Cameron said there had been "disaster after disaster" since Mr Brown took over, and asked if he was "cut out for the job".

point: I wish I'd seen PMQs today!

I saw a bit of his Press Conference yesterday ~ he looks genuinely bewildered by it all.
You know that look the bull gets just before the matador finishes him off .... that is how Brown is looking.
The problem is he is stubborn as a mule (mixing metaphors here, sorry) and I don't really think Cameron has the "killer" instinct needed to finish him off.

Oooooh! Harriet says she acted in good faith when she accepted the cash.

But the Electoral Commission has referred the whole matter to the Police.  whistle:

And the leader of the Scottish Labour Party has now admitted to accepting an illegal payment supporting her campaign.

Jack Dromey, Labour Party Treasurer, says the donations were clearly wrong ....
.....................pity he didn't tell his wife Harriet Harman.

Meanwhile the BBC says that Harriet now claims that she  (or "her team") were seeking funding and were told that they might care to contact this front woman for a donation by another candidate for the deputy leadership who had turned down the offer.  eeek:
I wonder who that might have been ~ Hilarious Benn perhaps?

Talk about honour among thieves.  point:

It turns out the Gordon Brown's team tipped Harriet off as to where there was some spare cash ~ despite having refused to accept money from that same source. Devious Scots B@st@rd is the phrase that comes to mind.

And Mr 'Permatan' Peter Hain has also been caught "failing to declare donations" but says it was a "genuine administrative error"

They're all crooks ~ sorry for stating the blindingly obvious.  whistle:

Did any of you see Question Time last night? Caroline Flint was on it trying to defend the indefensible. As an aside, she is one mean looking woman - wouldn't want to meet her when she's got the painters in...
