Little Berek had to see the child psychiatrist a couple of weeks ago, it was a private meeting without teachers or parents attending.
She picked up on a few "unusual" things that he said, bear in mind he is only 8 years old and tell me if you think these statements are unusual for a kid that age
1. Pirates don't hunt for treasure, they bury it
2. Is it ok these days for women to be as tough as men ?
3. My mum builds guns for submarines, it takes 10 men to fire it and they use it in Africa
regarding the 3rd one, she thinks this is very strange !!!
the fact is Meg works on the M-777, which does require 10 men and is used in Afghanistan !!
I have come to the conclusion she's an old hippy ( the shrink that is, not Meg )

1) Seems fine
3) If that is actually what Meg does that fine too.
2) Is a bit odd, however it would depend on the context.

They all seem quite normal to me. We were talking to the Boy about future career options a while back. Mrs Nick suggested doctor.
"Too risky," was the reply
Why?
"You might cut someone's head off."

1) Is a plain statement of fact ~ Pirates traditionally amassed their "treasure" by stealing from others and they hid the resulting booty ~ Hence "Pirates Treasure" ... If the Therapist doesn't know that then they are uneducated.
2) If the boy asked that question then it proves he has perceived the way the world is going. The question would never have been asked 40years ago. The Therapist ought to award him points for perception not question it.
3) If that's what Meg does then it is a simple matter of fact and again the child deserves credit for knowing about what she does and where it goes. The Therapist ought to do their homework.
Well Done Berek Jnr. 10/10
Pity the Therapist has such a prejudiced view of the world and cannot "think outside of the box" ~ I should ask for a second opinion if I were you.
PS
Mrs S says you should ask the Therapist what exactly she finds wrong with any of those statements and copy your letter of query to her manager. You need to dig deeper into what she thinks is odd about those statements as her report will end up on the Boy's record and from the sound of it she is likely to say that he is psychotic because that is the way that assessment appears to being slanted.
I should add that she did Psychology at Uni.
