Title: Mrs Nick seriously screws up
Post by: Nick on October 08, 2007, 04:04:51 PM
And of course it's my fault cry:

The Boy goes to tennis lessons miles away three effing times a week in Ellesmere effing Port.

At last we have found a neighbour whose daughter also goes and have worked out an ad hoc lift sharing scheme. Normally on Mondays she takes The Boy and The Girl and I pick The Boy up whilst the Girl (age 6) goes back to a friend's house for "tea"

So far so good?

Today I delivered The Boy to her house and she said that for today only I had to bring The Girl home too. Fine.

Mrs Nick then announced that she would do the pickup and fled out of the house. I tried to call her but her phone was off.

She just arrived back with The Boy.

"Did you bring Sophie home too?"

Mrs Nick: "But she goes to her friend for tea on Mondays"

ME: "Not today"

I can still smell the burning tyre rubber as Mrs Nick legged it back on the 20 minute journey to EP.

Quite. I will cop it later (and I am sure the coach will hang around till she gets picked up) but I tried to tell her. Would she listen?

I thnk I should have the whole house wired for sound so that I can play stuff back as evidence........... cry:

Sadly true. Maybe we should just have a jury of 12 honest men at all times.

But married men would have to ask their wives before they could reach a decision and bachelors just believe anything someone with tits tells them ~ which is how we all end up married.

They only ask so they can say "I did consult you" at a later stage thus, when it all goes tits up, it will have been your decision that persuaded her to go against her "better instincts"

But since Wenchy is here perhaps she can tell me that when The BBC say it is going to rain (and when isn't it going to rain in Wales?) does Mrs S put washing on the line and when it rains is it my fault that she didn't see it was raining in time to get the washing back in before it gets soaked? Funny you should say that ~ I have been considering going on one of those "Retreat" thingies ~ y'know, like in a monastery..... don't fancy all the praying stuff but just a few days of no arguments, no kids, total peace and quiet. I wonder if there is such a place and at what cost. Solitude is what I am after, with food and bed provided.

Some Oxbriege colleges rent out rooms in teh hols. Others have rooms you can rent if you claim to be doing some research in a library there.

I had a week in Oxford on this basis in the 1980s and very nice it was too!

Weekend Introductory Retreats
These are held once a month and are the best way to first learn about our practice. The aim is to help you get a basic understanding of meditation and the essential teachings so that you can establish your own meditation practice at home. The classes include a discussion of Buddhist ethics and their foundation in a compassionate attitude towards all of life. These retreats are also recommended for those who are already familiar with Buddhism but who are new to our practice.

On Friday afternoon please arrive by 5.00pm at the latest so that we can welcome you and show you around before supper at 6.00pm and meditation instruction at 7.20pm. The following schedule gives a general idea of what to expect on the Saturday.

6am: Rising, (tea available)
6.20: Meditation
7.00:  Short morning service
8.10: Breakfast
9.00: Spiritual reading
9.25:  Questions on meditation followed by meditation

This thread has wandered a long way from home noooo:

We have just been filling in time WAITING for someone to tell us what happened. Last we heard Mrs Nick was racing, in a cloud of tyre smoke, toward Ellesmere Port ~ since when nothing about the plight of the abandoned little girl, Mrs Nick's explanation, your excuses ..... NOTHING! evil:

The tennis coach had waited and done some more tennising with the mite. Mrs Nick had to pacify the coach, but apart from that all was, I think, well.

I did cop it slightly but asserted myself scared2: and pointed out that since I had recently recharged her phone and stuck £25 credit on it she really OUGHT to turn it on to facilitate communication. I took her failure to respond to this as a sort of victory.

Actually going to our usual rented farm cottage in Dorset at the end of the month for a week ..... but that includes family which is what I really want to get away from for a few days.

P'raps I'll send them on the holiday and stay at home, alone  cloud9:

Bliss.

And Nick is right about the lack of Radio Four.

Just found out an online friend is on womans hour today! Might actually be the sort of thing that interests Mrs Snoopy.

Listening to it as I type ~ which one is your friend? ~ At the moment it is all about Breast Cancer AGAIN.

She does go on rather. I can understand why but a break occasionally is nice.

Haven't listened to yesterday's yet. I didn't have time what with early bedtime and wispa eating. redface:

I have mixed feelings about Adrian Chiles. Maybe it's the accent?

I have to return to this subject. For the second time this week (and it's only Wednesday) Jenni Murray is banging on about Breast Cancer again! ~ That was the main topic yesterday and again today. Small wonder listening figures are down. I know it is a subject that worries many women (BTW Men get it too though you'd never guess from the way JM goes on and on about it) but surely we have all heard enough about her damned tits by now.
I feel a strong letter to the BBC coming on. evil:

MODERATOR ABUSE OF POWER!!!

Having corrected the error which let to your Huh I removed the Huh in the interests of trying to enable the readership to make sense of it all. Not abuse but sensible editing and stewardship of our good name I felt. evil:

You'll need a lot more than simple Huh-deletion to achieve that. noooo:
