Reading this story:
Youth admits killing sister, 12 (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/manchester/7023750.stm)
I have to ask why isn't the mother on trial?
The gun was illegally owned by their mother Natasha who had buried the .38 snub-nosed revolver in the garden.
The youngsters' mother was away in London attending a funeral when the tragedy happened but the court was told that she had ordered her son not to touch the firearm.
Their 33-year-old mother has previously pleaded guilty to possession of the gun and possession of ammunition.
No sign of a father (of course)
I feel sorry for the young girl but did she ever have much of a chance with her family background?

And why do Sky News keep saying it was a shotgun? noooo:

Got me there. That's Sky for you I guess.
Anyway ~ Shite mother. I note she was only 16 when she gave birth to the lad.
The whole thing just depresses me.

One report I heard said that she had hidden the gun (why?) in the garden, told the son where it was and then told him not to touch it.
And she was at a funeral? rubschin:
Wonder how the deceased died?

Anyway ~ Shite mother.
I'm guessing she isn't a 39-year-old doctor then?

Well, It must have been a snub-nosed .38 revolver-shotgun I suppose. (There IS such a thing).
And it's difficult to pin a murder on someone that didn't actually fire the gun.
