Someone has started a petition calling for a general election on the basis that Starmer et al have broken all their election promises.
Nearly a million signatures in only a couple of days. rubschin:

I'm curious to see what the reaction will be although I think Mahyar Tousi is right and it will need at least as many signatures as votes they received in order to mean anything.

It was 242,000 when I signed it first thing this morning... 1,037,000 as I type! eeek:

I think it's safe to say Starmer is going down in history as the most unpopular PM to date. rubschin:

Many more signed for a second referendum. And that didn't happen either

I'm not so much expecting a general election as I am Starmer getting his arse kicked out of No, 10 by the more moderate Labour MP's who can see the writing on the wall. Especially after the news that Starmer met with Blackrock execs on the heels of the inheritance tax land grab against farmers.

I wouldn't hold your breath

The petition alone won't trigger ambitious or self serving Labour MP's to oust Starmer but it's additional pressure on top of the backlash that has already made itself known. As things stand it's pretty clear that the next election will send the party into a degree of political exile that will make the Liberal party's 100 years in the wilderness look like a day trip to Brighton.
On a related subject as the petition came up during the interview I see that Starmer isn't afraid to go on TV to answer the tough questions...
Cat Deeley and Andy Peters, dear God give me strength. Peters' toughest TV gig to date was sidekick to Gordon the bleedin' gopher. Banghead
