Its being alleged that the sainted Rachel may have been a tad creative with her CV. A post by a former senior manager at Lloyds and HBOS is casting doubt on her actual position while also commenting on a couple of incidents that happened while she was working at that institution including the one that apparently led to her resignation.

Considering that the treasury has been unable to confirm the accuracy of the much touted £20b black hole when sent an FOIA request by the FT, not to mention the fact that Reeves changed her Linkedin information once this came out, I'm inclined to think that there may be something to this. rubschin

Good to see the MSM catching up with Guido... (https://order-order.com/2024/10/24/rachel-reeves-bank-economist-myth-busted/#:~:text=Reeves%20held%20a%20mid%2Dlevel,according%20to%20records%20last%20week.)
No surprise with Thieves though, sh literally oozes a lack of talent! lol:

yes the grubby Paul Staines did this weeks ago on his Guido blog. It wasn't any more true then than it is now.
As I posted elsewhere at the time
She said she had worked as an 'economist' but there's no clear definition of what that means. She was working at HBOS, fact and she likely knew far more about economics than the man or woman in the street and that would make her an economist.
Best to always kick the tyres of the allegations of Paul Staines that started this 'lies' story in his Guido blog.

And yet you have a former senior manager at LBG/HBOS stating specifically that she wasn't an economist but a complaints support manager.

The link was in the OP. His profile also shows a comprehensive management career within LBS/HBOS

Given current libel laws in the UK if this was a false statement then Reeves has more then enough to win in court. Hence me being very careful to state that it was alleged.

What that link shows is whoever he is he's someone that just hates Labour at a cellular level. Not a reliable witness
And our libel laws are so weak now the lack of an action is meaningless

I'm sure it is just a coincidence that anybody that doesn't share your Lefty views on everything is 'grubby' or 'unreliable'... rubschin:

Strange isn't it that I also get regularly accused of being right wing

Not by anybody that reads your comments here I should think... lol:

More a contrarian (not that's a bad thing)

Probably true. I detest the extremes of politics and the lies and distortions their adherents so often use. I will defend anyone from attack by false instrument.
Reeves is a poor chancellor, hopelessly vain and delivered an awful budget. Should she have called herself an economist? Probably not but the term is so wide ranging it wasn't actually dishonest.
As for Kevin Gillett when you read his Linkedin comments he is (like Paul Staines) certainly very right wing and a lover of boasts.
-
Gillett may lean towards the right but that wouldn't give him the power to change the employment history on Reeve's Linkedin profile once this came to light from Economist with the Bank of Scotland from Dec 2006 to Dec 2009 to Retail Banking with Halifax for the same period, both stated as being full time positions.

As the Times put it link (https://www.thetimes.com/uk/politics/article/pressure-grows-on-rachel-reeves-to-explain-fake-claims-on-cv-c98l8lf7d)
'She was just 27 when she left the Bank, suggesting she was employed as an economist in relatively junior roles.'
But the core of that is 'employed as an economist'. It's a very wide ranging term.

Well this is awkward for Paul Staines and others

A Bank of England economics paper from 2005. And who does the Bank of England list as its author? Rachel Reeves
Published on 12 December 2005
By Rachel Reeves of the Bank’s Structural Economic Analysis Division and Michael Sawicki of the Bank’s External Monetary Policy Committee Unit.
Communication by the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) can convey information to market participants about the economic and policy outlook. In an inflation-targeting framework, clear communication by the central bank has an important role in explaining interest rate decisions and in helping to anchor inflation expectations. This article explores how financial markets react to different forms of communication by the MPC. The article finds that markets react to collective forms of communication such as the MPC Minutes and Inflation Report. But reactions to what might be called individual forms of communication - speeches and testimony to parliamentary committees - are more difficult to discern. Compared with a similar study for the United States, the results for the United Kingdom are less pronounced. . . '
So she was an economist after all.

I wonder why she had to change her Linked In profile to 'Working in Accounts' then...? rubschin:

I wonder why she had to change her Linked In profile to 'Working in Accounts' then...? rubschin:
She didn't have to and she didn't change her profile for the time at the Bank of England where despite much gammon sourced invective she clearly was an economist. She revised it for the HBOS time.

Why not deal with the evidenced fact that she clearly was a Bank of England economist? Awkward though that fact is for some.

I suspect there is more information to come out on this... Popcorn:
Why did she got from BoE 'Economist' to HBOS Complaints Department for instance...? rubschin:
Rachel in Accounts... Fun times! lol:

Probably because 'economist' is a very broad term.
