Just watched the verdict come in, not guilty on all counts. While I'm glad a clear case of self defence held true, especially given the stunts the prosecution pulled, I'm dreading the reaction from Antifa, rent-a-mob & co.

Wonderful news! But like you say, it will all kick off now... noooo:

Murder implies intent, the evidence shows that Rittenhouse tried to remove himself from the situation and deescalate things before being forced to defend himself after being hit over the head with a skateboard, narrowly avoiding someone else trying to flying kick him in the head and having someone pull a gun on him.
Rittenhouse volunteered to help out in a town that he had family and worked in, his three attackers were trying to push a burning dumpster into a petrol station.
His three attackers were all convicted criminals. Grosskreutz was in breach of his parole terms when he went to the kenosha riot carrying an illegal handgun over state lines. Kyle was providing first aid to anyone that needed it and had already been thanked by the local police for helping.
The prosecution was almost in breach of the constitution by attacking Rittenhouse's right to silence, withheld evidence (the name of flying kick guy) and handed over a lower quality copy of the drone footage under a different file name (I'm sure it was pure coincidence that AD Bingers laptop had Handbrake and Format Factory installed).

Certainly arguably lucky. Under UK law he'd be serving life now.
But the jury has spoken so hopefully he uses this experience wisely and goes on to have a decent life and never touches an assault rifle again.
Seeing as how all his victims were white I'm less than convinced there'll be race riots. The risk was more if he'd been found guilty
-
Steve, the problem is that there are plenty on the left including Biden himself who either strongly hinted or outright claimed that Rittenhouse was a white supremacist because it suited their narrative and is easier to deal with than the actual truth. Rittenhouse should not have been there because he shouldn't have NEEDED to be in Kenosha that night. The local, state and federal governments failed in their duty to keep the peace which led to him being one of many who thought they had no choice but to step up.
This has led to there being a significant number of people who haven't realised that Rittenhouse defended himself against 3 white men on top of those who just don't care and want to burn and loot.
-
Certainly arguably lucky. Under UK law he'd be serving life now.
Well yes, it would not have been possible for him to have the gun in the UK. Sadly.
-
Everyone is going to put their own spin on it to suit their own agendas so will we as mere media consumers be able to know? The jury, I assume, received a more balanced view of exactly what happened so I have to trust them to make a more informed decision.
It will, however, all kick off now noooo:
-

No, seems under Wisconsin law it's legal to provoke an altercation, make people think you might shoot them and then kill anyone that seeks to disarm you.

No it isn't... ::)
It is legal to confront a rioting, looting and burning mob...

Not a bad read objectively looking at why the not guilty verdict arose
https://edition.cnn.com/2021/11/19/us/legal-experts-what-helped-rittenhouse-acquittal/index.html
' state law meant the burden fell on prosecutors to disprove Rittenhouse was acting in self-defense beyond a reasonable doubt.'
-
It does miss out a number key facts.
1. That Grosskreutz is in the process of suing the state for $10m, something that would have been made far easier with a guilty verdict.
2. That after is was established that the prosecution had provided the defence with a lower quality, cropped version of the drone footage in a strange resolution with the broadcaster logo removed AD Bingler was caught with shortcuts to Format Factory and Handbrake on his laptop despite claiming he had no idea how it could have happened and even tried to say it was probably something to do with airdropping the file to an android phone.
3. There were multiple attempts to either photograph or identify the jury members, including by a freelancer in the employ of MSNBC. Something that was commented on as being a good thing by the cousin of George Floyd.
4. A large section of the mainstream media, including CNN, went out of it's way to label Rittenhouse as a white supremacist who carried an assault rifle across state lines deliberately looking for a fight when none of it was true. The main basis for the white supremacist claim was a photograph taken with members of the Oathkeepers and some comments he is supposed to have made that have been taken out of context. Now using those standards then Biden is also a white supremacist for having multiple photographs taken of himself with his good friend Robert Byrd who was a senior member of the Klu Klux Klan, not to mention that Biden made plenty of statements over the years that can easily be argued as being racist.
5. Rittenhouse didn't take an assault rifle across state lines, he was provided with a common SEMI AUTOMATIC rifle and not one with selective fire. Also the AR in AR-15 stands for Armalite Rifle, the original manufacturer of that style and not assault rifle as is claimed by ignorant or dishonest portions of the media.
6. That it was in fact Grosskreutz who actually carried an illegal weapon across state lines as because he was out on parole his right to carry a firearm was revoked and he could only go to a different state under specific circumstances which doesn't include joining a riot.
And speaking of the rifle AD Binger needs to be charged with reckless endangerment for picking up the rifle in the courtroom and without checking to see if the chamber was clear, pointing it at the jury with his finger on the trigger. Especially coming on the back of the whole Alec Baldwin Rust set tragedy.

Anyway
1..Is after the fact irrelevance to the events. He appears to have a case. IMHO they'll settle out of court.
2. AD Bingler might more accurately be called Bungler. The actual problem is with the HD video that never should have been used as evidenced because it was so called enhanced that can create artefacts
3. MSNBC were banned from the courtroom for that idiocy. Unliely to have affected the jury either way.
4. Very strong evidence Kyle Rittenhouse was very happy to be seen as a white supremacist but rightly it wasn't allowed to be shown to the jury. And while he didn't carry a weapon across state lines there is the evidence is he believed it to be illegal which is why he arranged for his friend to buy it (with Kyle's money) and hide it in Kenosa.
5. An AR-15 IS an assault rifle. Specifically listed as such in their firearms acts
6. False story I can only find in the Daily Mail. See https://www.snopes.com/news/2020/09/11/rittenhouse-victims-records/ for refutal
As for Binger picking up the rifle in court you have no idea how many times it had been checked to be empty, whether the barrel was plugged or whether the safety was on. HOWEVER your view would say Rittenhouse should be charged with same.
I say again what this case has shown is that Wisconsin law is a complete mess. It's full of loopholes allowing minors to have assault weapons and gives almost a blanket right to kill anyone you don't like.

1. You say that it is an after the fact irrelevance to the events despite the fact he was caught on the stand having lied in his statement to the police about having dropped his pistol before getting shot. If you are taking part in a riot and carrying an illegal firearm when you know your concealed carry permit is invalid then the basis of your lawsuit against the state is invalid. His only chance at any kind of settlement would have been a guilty verdict for Rittenhouse and then blaming the state for him being there.
2. No the HD footage should not have been used, something that was stated by one of the experts the prosecution used as well as the technician who enhanced the footage in the first place. But this was just one example of an arguably corrupt prosecution carrying on as they wanted.
3. MSNBC was only ONE of many attempts made and he was only caught because he was stupid enough to run a red light. There were still a number of others including those supported by the cousin of George Floyd.
4. Call me picky but I'd say that an grown man with years of political experience happily being photographed on the campaign trail with a member of the KKK, not to mention publicly defending him and speaking at his funeral is far more convincing white supremacist than a kid who posted in blue lives matter forums and was photographed with members of the oathkeepers after they gave him their support. As for the 'evidence' not being made available to the jury, the same could be said for the criminal records of his three attackers.
5. According to Giffords Law, an organisation headed by ex congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords that has long been campaigning for common sense gun laws, Wisconsin has no restrictions on the ownership of so called assault rifles https://giffords.org/lawcenter/state-laws/assault-weapons-in-wisconsin/
As for the difference between Bingler picking up the rifle in court and Rittenhouse using it to protect himself. I don't know if you have had any firearms experience but there are basic safety procedures that anyone with common sense would realise for themselves if they haven't previously had firearms training. It's been 30 years for me and I can still remember them as if I had been taught yesterday.
NEVER pick up a weapon without checking for yourself to see if the chamber is clear.
NEVER point a weapon at something unless you intend to destroy it.
NEVER put your finger on the trigger unless you are ready to fire.
ALWAYS be aware of what is behind and around your target in case of missing or overpenetration.
Rittenhouse was attacked by 3 men, the only people who ended up getting shot were those three. He was disciplined and only shot in order to protect his own life. Bingler on the other had ignored every safety procedure and common bloody sense when he pointed that rifle at the jury without checking it.
No, there is no blanket right to pretty much allow someone to kill whoever they like. Rittenhouse was attacked by 3 men, one of whom was earlier seen threatening him and he reacted accordingly, correctly thinking his life was in danger. Yes, Rittenhouse should not have been there, but he was one of MANY who saw a complete failure in the duty of care of the state government and felt compared to act in order to protect lives and property in a town he both worked in and had friends and family living in.
::) The old tactic of falsifying quotes instead of addressing the points made eh?
Because the media never makes up their own story instead of following the facts, I'm sure I was just imagining Joe Scarborough of MSNBC (hmm, what a coincidence) stating that Rittenhouse deliberately drove across state lines and fired off 60 rounds that night
