Tonight in Paphos the council/gubberment have put on a huge open air "pop" concert ..with 1000s of people crammed together ......no monitoring of Vacine etc ...
I normally laugh at the shit that goes on here as in "it only happens etc" .....but this could effect our jobs etc ..our cases are rising .. rubschin:.... and why ... Banghead Banghead Banghead Angry9: cussing:

does sound stupid
Your 2 week rate is now 179 per 100,000 people. Our gubberment has just said they're happy if ours goes to 2,200 per 100k. How stupid is that when countries like yours will look at that and say 'no Brits here please'?

I presume it was jam packed like Wembley...? ;D
People are realising that no amount of mask wearing, social distancing, sanitising, etc. makes the blind bit of difference... If it did, our numbers wouldn't look like this...
(https://i.postimg.cc/sMpBC385/Cyprus.jpg) (https://postimg.cc/sMpBC385)
For a while you can play the 'blame game'. Blame people that don't wear masks or social distance or get vaxed, etc. Doesn't last long...
Eventually, unless you are prepared to lock everybody indoors for six months, deliver food and force vaccinations we are going to have to accept it and get on with our lives - rather like Florida, Texas, Sweden, etc.
Anybody that considers themselves vulnerable is of course free to continue to wear a mask, social distance, sanitise their shopping trolley and shopping but the rest of us need to get back to as near as normal as possible...

. . .People are realising that no amount of mask wearing, social distancing, sanitising, etc. makes the blind bit of difference...
yes it's true that some people do believe that

yes it's true that some people do believe that
Especially people in places that have removed all of that shite and seen no difference in outcome... I'm guessing that those people in particular (residents of Florida, Texas, South Dakota, Sweden, etc.) believe it most of all because they can see the evidence in front of them...
Clearly people that watch the BBC news every day and wish to spend the rest of their lives under the government thumb may not be as convinced... But still... Shrugs:

For masks to have made any real difference the governments would have had to mandated using n95, ffp3 and possibly kn95 analogues only and having to change them every few hours to ensure they don't absorb so much moisture from our breath that they allow any virus particles through. This was never going to happen though because the stocks were just not available. Instead we end up with people wearing things like neck gaiters thinking that it will provide protection Banghead

Oh for goodness sake Meister, masks are all about protecting people from the wearer by reducing the aerosol size and range
-
And that would work with proper masks. But looking at the range of ridiculousness that I have seen people using half of them would be little or no use at reducing the spray and some would even help spread it more widely. Not to mention that my argument with the basic surgical masks still counts, once they are moistened enough from your breath (usually after a couple of hours use) they are pretty much completely porous allowing a near free flow of virons both ways.

yes we can all remember a few selfish shits who don't wear masks properly. We should be slinging them off trains etc and if they're lucky when it's stationary.
But the science says the cloth face coverings work https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/science/science-briefs/masking-science-sars-cov2.html
Much though that frustrates the 'what's in it for me?' community

Like those at the G7 that whipped them off as soon as the photo op was over...? lol:
Lets face it, if masks were actually effective the great and good wouldn't have taken them off as soon as they could. They'd also ban the cheap rubbish ones that don't fit the face properly...
They also wouldn't allow the footy, Wimbledon, etc. without them...

Mask rules have only applied indoors for a very long time because that's where the big issue is

Do you honestly believe that this lot, chumming up to each other outdoors with no social distancing put masks on as soon as they stepped inside?
I've got a lovely bridge for you Steve! happy001

Exactly. A lot of people, including in supermarkets and on the tram today just do not get the idea that masks, of whatever sort, are there to protect others and not primarily the wearer. When the restrictions are lifted I will continue to wear a mask in the obvious settings TO PROTECT OTHERS. My obvious concern is that the morons (like all the university students at the end of my road) or the anti vaxxers and people who are just stupid will ditch the masks (many already have) as they just don't get the point,. Personal responsiblility has to include social responsibility. Banghead Banghead

You are of course welcome to wear a mask for as long as you like! Thumbs:
Me? I don't wear outside now (although that is illegal here) and I'll ditch inside use as soon as restrictions are lifted.
People need to be protected from me? Stay at home and away from me - don't make me wear a mask because of your issues.
Bollox to wearing a mask for the rest of my life because some people are vulnerable to illness that I may or may not be carrying...

But I may (or may not) have been carrying stuff around for the past 61 years... ::)
In fact I'm sure (with hindsight) there have been occasions that I've felt a bit jubby but have still gone to work and have spread flu (or whatever) around to fellow workers and commuters...
But only now for some bizarre reason we some of us are obsessed about protecting our fellow man from the tiniest chance of contracting a disease that most people will need a test to know that they have... It is mental! whacky115
And if our betters (and EUFA officials) don't need to abide by these ridiculous rules they have plucked out of thin air you can be damned sure I'm not going to! ;)
Lock yourself away if that makes you feel safe - but increasing number of people are not prepared to do so... When is the next mass march in London BTW...? rubschin:

Until it is no longer necessary. I do not know, and no one does, how long my vaccination is effective for. I look forward to a booster in a few months.
10 minutes a day of wearing a mask is no big imposition for me. I also wear seat belts, get vaccinated, insure my car, wash, contribute to the NHS, submit to security checks at airports like everyone else.
Shortly the Nodster will start chemo and will have to avoid all risk of infection. My cancer treatment was stopped because of risk of infection and can never resume. One can think of others not far from here who are enduring chemo and may also be at risk.

As long as it makes a difference.
Sadly that won't be long once the M6 (Mindless Maskless Me Me Me Mobs) are amok. And do you really want to encourage them?
Simple mask wearing in indoor public spaces is a simple measure, well evidenced to make a difference in this fucking mess. It's like not getting pissed and driving, washing your hands after a crap etc. It's doing the right thing because other people matter.

It is Endemic now, it will be back this Winter and every year from now on... Welcome to wearing a mask for the rest of your life... I presume you will wear it to protect us from Flu and colds too...? rubschin:

But thanks for keeping us safe! ;)

Here's a complete list of all those that know what the Covid situation will be in a year's time:
<end list>
It may as you say be endemic, it may have run out of mutations to outpace vaccine development or the reverse may have happened.
What I do know is right now the UK has the worst case rate in Europe and our case, death and hospital rates are very much going up big time and we need to buy time til we have ~100% vaccinated. And forcing involuntary unvaccinated people to shop or go to work on trains where the infected won't be wearing masks is wrong, risking a world travel ban on Brits is wrong and telling people the only mask that makes a difference is an F95 (or equal) is wrong.

Of course other opinions are available...
I'm happy with mine, clearly you are happy with tour choices.
I can't help but point out though that all of your lockdowns, mask wearing, business closures, social distancing, etc. has resulted in (your words), "the UK has the worst case rate in Europe and our case, death and hospital rates are very much going up big time"
I wonder how many in the UK, given the chance would be happy to move to Florida, Texas, South Dakota or Sweden where the restrictions are significantly less but the outcomes significantly better...? rubschin:
-
We have the worst case rate in Europe solely because that self serving clown Boris decided pursuing a face saving idiot deal with India was more important than protecting the country.
So while blocking safer countries he let in ten of thousands from India where the Delta variant was rampant
We had the damn thing on the run under 2,000 cases a day and falling but never underestimate the power of self serving fuckwittery to fuck everything up. Now we're 28,000 a day and going up 35% a week and that fool Javid wants us to get to 100,000 a day
-
My concern is that we end up with a rapid uncontrolled rise in cases after the 19th and as a knee jerk reaction Boris bangs the lockdown hammer again.
-
Our cases today over 800 ....... eeek:

It's got to be a very big concern and would shaft the travel industry big time. My worry is poorly vaccinated France will bar UK truckers again forcing Boris's hand. We're just 6 weeks from every adult having 1st dose immunity levels available and he's risking fucking it all up with that no masks no matter where idiocy.
