How does one small act turn into a costly nightmare ? noooo: It's turning into the dIY version of 'There was an old lady who swallowed a fly' noooo:
So yesterday we fitted a new bathroom light after the new shower and flooring had been put in cloud9:
Obvs had to turn off mains leecy
Lighted fitted - turn leccy back on - works grand cloud9:
Clean up and go to cook some dinner
Error code showing on the built in induction hob
try the normal disconnect from supply leave for 30 seconds and reconnect - no joy noooo:
Check forums and the like for the E1 code which seems to suggest the control board is buggered noooo:
Get takeaway
This morning try all previous steps that didn't work yesterday again - on the just in case laws of science
Quelle surprise - no joy
Remove seal from around induction hobs and lift out unit
The lad fiddles about with wiring - still no joy.
Look at costs of replacement
Get more frustrated as it appears size installed is non standard
Start exploring if we could expand size of hole to install slightly larger ones that seem to be the norm now
Corian worktops and units below do not seem able to accommodate this
Start to discuss kitchen refurb noooo: noooo: noooo: noooo: noooo:
We only changed a light cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing: cussing:

I sympathise! happy100
Sadly, "I wish I'd never started this" features strongly in my DIY career... redface:
Corian is nice tho - we nearly had one in The Big House... I thought they could just re-weld bits in place without seams...?
-
Our kitchen has 3 chunks of Corian glued together, if the professionals do it you really can't see the joins. I was amazed

Yes, we went to a kitchen shop in Limassol that was knocking out a display kitchen cheap... It didn't really fit the shape of ours but the guy said they could just saw it up and make the bits fit. When he showed us where the welds were we couldn't believe it! eeek:
Not sure why we didn't buy it now...? rubschin:

Suggest you move house angel1

Can't he mount the board somewhere completely separate for example on the back wall inside the unit below where it can fit and then daisy chain extension cables to the connection points? All it would need then is a cover to protect it.

Corian isn't joined with welds, it just looks that good. They use very high grade and colour matched epoxy
two pictures from below are first from two years ago showing the glooped glue which they left for a few days and then professionally sanded away. And then second is same area just now. The 5p coin is on the main join and you just can't see the join compared to shadows etc (what looks like lines is th shadow of my arm as I took the pic). To find the join I have to look underneath as there it's just a crude match up.
Corian said if ever we damaged it they could repair it by sanding it down. Took us about a week to scratch one area but the scratch removal kit they gave did good. It's excellent but pricey stuff
I suggest contact Corian Miss D

Yes I shall make a few calls tomorrow. Only trouble is to make the hole larger apart from the corian the unit it would cut into isn't suitable either cussing:

Just get a jig saw and whack a bigger hole out... ::)
