Title: Saving for best
Post by: Miss Demeanour on January 18, 2020, 10:23:58 PM
So I have had it with the concept of "saving it for best" .

We have a lovely dinner service and cutlery set thing that is only used for special occasions.

So today I have had enough and had a 'clear out' and got rid of all the stuff that we normally use and replaced with the good stuff.

Of course this was without consultation and The Man was confused.com when he returned as we now have no 'best' stuff left  ::)

I'm sure we'll manage  lol:

Well it's a Wedgewood set we broke the bank to buy not long after we got married and glad we bought it then as it was in one of their rare moments when they weren't making over designed ornate crap for the USA market.  We use it when people come for sit down meals, so used it Christmas Day

Blue Pacific (costs a fortune to get replacements nowadays:

Our 'everyday' stuff is the Splatt range.  And that's long been discontinued too

And then we've got a millionteen pieces of cheapo Auchan stuff we use when we host the wider family BBQ.

We only have one set in the new apartment that came with it...

...but when we get the 'big house' back at the end of the month we are moving the 'best' set from there apparently... ::)

I've had to order new cutlery draw thingies...  Banghead

This Christmas I decided to swop the ‘we’ve moved into a new house set of ordinary’ for the Portmeirion for the duration.  It’s been swopped back now.  I liked that and have used some items that have never been used before because they weren’t to hand when I needed them.

Getting the right cutlery draw thingies is a nightmare !!!

They need more sections than they currently seem to offer .

Likewise all the utensils ...I don't like having them on display or in a special container or etc ( always a struggle to get the right one out) so they are all scattered in a separate draw  noooo:

I've ordered these (https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B072R6CLRC/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and then all the other paraphernalia can go in the drawer next to them... ::)
