Title: Wonderful (#2)
Post by: Barman on September 21, 2015, 10:45:05 AM
Went to the village last night to eat and have a few drinks... was lovely sitting outside one of the bars that had a guy on acoustic guitar.... very nice...

It was the celebration of the Church's Name Day this weekend - the Cypriots take it very seriously with processions around the village and other events...

The village square was filled with stalls ranging from bagatelle games where you win prizes (LL got a huge cock), food stalls of various sorts and loads of stalls selling tat and toys...

One of the stalls (or several perhaps) was selling toy guns - consequently all the kids boys were running around with various weapons, assault rifles, sniper rifles and hand guns. Most had a Glock tucked into their belts or cunningly concealed down their socks. None of the guns had orange barrels or anything else that would make it clear that it was a toy - they all looked very realistic.

I remember doing the same things as a kid - we had cap guns then, not guns that made electronic shooting noises and sometimes spud guns... Great fun!

I thought how sad it was that kids couldn't do that in the UK now without some prodnose calling the police and an armed response unit turning up...  noooo:

Bit worrying though that the church is called Dorothy

Agreed but was it really the Police's fault when bastards used kids to traffic real guns?

No, but (as far as I can observe) plod has no common sense or sense of proportion any more - and the sheeple don't seem to either....  noooo:

Wasn't there one recently at a car wash or something (can't be arsed to search for it) where some member of the pubic called the police because the owners son had left his (obviously) toy gun lying around.

Not only did the police feel the need to swoop but they insisted on taking the boy's (obviously) toy gun away for examination by firearms experts...

'pubic' was deliberate by the way....

Plod has always done stupid things at times, with the wonder of the internet we now get a very distorted view of life so the unusual appears to be the norm

I have no real idea of how much child gun crime goes on in the UK but I am certain I don't want there to be any more.  I'm not keen either on the idea of some poor bank cashier scared out of their wits by a realistic looking Glock that is actually a plastic toy.  So sorry but orange barrels are fine by me.

In San Marino there were quite a few weapon shops as apparently it has the most unrestricted gun laws in Europe. So anyone could
obtain a sub machine or other 'light' weapons . Quite alarming  eeek:

Happily selling little replica BB guns for the kids who were delighted to be going around 'killing' each other

But all in the best possible taste  lol:

The obvious flaw in the scheme is that (https://www.virtual-pub.com/SMF/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs27.postimg.org%2F5who6fs4f%2Fgun1.jpg&hash=3bb0ace677e9a4e5e8b8ae3ac9d492d154aa559b) (http://postimg.org/image/5who6fs4f/) + (https://www.virtual-pub.com/SMF/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fs27.postimg.org%2F8f3d74dun%2Fgun2.jpg&hash=805e784933331b0d82740907c3f5372a9d3484d6) (http://postimg.org/image/8f3d74dun/) = toy gun

Where do we go after the first incident of a real gun being though to be a toy because it was painted orange - ban all toy guns...?

Surely, if somebody goes into a bank and points a gun at the cashier he should be prosecuted for armed robbery even if the gun is later discovered to be a toy...?

In most of these events a little common sense is all that is required...

...like in Pissouri last night, nobody thought for a second that the children running round with guns were planning to rob the bank (which was closed anyway) or assassinate one of the party goers...

Do they have to be transparent now...?

Perfect!  lol:

When I worked in a pub many, many years ago, one of the customers was a policemen that used to regale us with amusing anecdotes of his working life...

...once he was telling us about a court appearance when the defendants were accused of armed robbery at a post office... apparently during the apprehension of the aforementioned defendants he had called them 'cunts'....

The defending barrister was asking why he had called his clients 'cunts' to which he allegedly replied: -

"Anybody that steals a matched pair of Purdy shotguns worth £100,000 and then saws the barrels off to use them to steal £300 from a post office is a cunt in my opinion"

Here you go, I googled that for you!

Quote
3.2 The previous codes of practice for toy firearms specified a bright orange or red plug. The Violent Crime Reduction Act (together with the Violent Crime Reduction Act (Realistic Imitation Firearms) Regulations 2007) requires that further measures must be taken to enable imitation firearms to be distinguished from real firearms.

Therefore a toy firearm may either: -

3.2.1     be constructed entirely of transparent  materials which permit unmistakable observation of the complete contents of the device, or

3.2.2     be coloured in bright red, bright orange, bright yellow, bright green, bright blue, bright pink or bright purple either singly or as the principal colour in combination with the other colours in any pattern, or

3.2.3     be a miniature toy firearm – that is to say less than 38mm in height and 70mm in length, (excluding any gun stock measurement).

3.2.4     be a toy firearm the appearance of which would tend to identify it as having a design and mechanism of a sort first dating from before the year 1870.

3.2.5     be clearly identifiable as a toy by its general appearance or shape not having similarities with real firearms e.g. futuristic weapons, “ray guns” and similar.

So yeah, a Glock and tin of orange paint would suffice....

In order to fully comply with:

And would that really affect kids playing gun games?  I have no idea Shrugs:
