Changing Bond to either a black character or a woman wouldn't work because even with the different actors over the years his basic personality has been long established. Having said that the fact that he is 007 means that there are at least another 6 00 agents that could be used to start spin off franchises given that Hollywood seems to be concentrating on safe bets and remakes at the moment.
