Thomson ia fine even if some of the fleet is extremely old and maintenance is contracted out to the same lot that "look after" Malaysian Airlines.  If you are going to Rhodes you will probably be in an Airbus A320, with CFM-56 engines which are as good as they get.  Unless they aren't maintained well. In which case,  you could be fuxxed

rubschin: rubschin: Crash and burn you say?

I was only joking...

It will be  Boeing 737-800 series.  Which also have CFM-56 engines but due to the low ground clearance of the plane, tend to suck up more shit from runways etc... more people have died in 737s than any other plane.

But you'll be fine

If you are flying from EMA then you might be on a Boeing Screamliner. Coooool. Apart from the luthium ion batteries that aren't cool. They burst into flames in fact. So up until the point you crash into the ocean in a fireball,  you will have been on the most advanced and quiet plane in the sky. Or was in the sky...

Things more likely to kill you than a plane crash (http://www.buzzfeed.com/staceyc5/6-things-more-likely-to-kill-you-than-a-plane-cras-4mkq)

I have arrived, like.

At the airport I discovered I had left my Euros at home on the kitchen counter  cussing:

The cabby got lost, understandably as this hotel is a tad "isolated"

The manager or whatever seemed startled to see me and pored over a ledger for some time before announcing he was only expecting one new guest today. He showed me the booking. It had my name on it. I showed him my passport and he marvelled at the coincidence.

I casually enquired the whereabouts of the nearest bar, restaurant, supermarket, bus stop etc.

He produced a hand drawn map with no scale.

They are all a bare kilometer walk away down an unlit track.  eeek:

I can confirm that the bathroom drain is in the highest point of the floor and that air con is extra and the wifi only werks within 6 feet of reception.

It wasn't confusion or being startled.  It was the sudden realisation that the man standing before him was the same as that faded photo posted on his office wall. The same photo that is on the office wall of every hotel with big letters underneath stating "BEWARE" in 18 different languages.  The master of mayhem and the maelstrom of mongulation was here. In his hotel. Did you hear a loud bang last night?  Like a shotgun,  temporarily muted by a mouth round it?

What a day!!  I noticed a sign in the harbour for a boat trip  leaving at 9.30. Arrived at 9.15. Sign said to pay at kiosk. No kiosk and, subsequently, no boat. Being in a boating mood I wandered along to a motor boat rental place. Greek lady explained that 4 people was the minimum required and then pointed to three women sitting on a bench  (smiley Czech girl, her mum and Italian wumman) "They are looking for a fourth."  We each paid 10 Euros and entered the boat piloted by Stavros. No one spoke a word of English and we had no idea where we were going. After 20 minutes we arrived at a beach, deserted apart from a small cafe.

Stavros helped us off the boat and said, "See you at 2.00" and off he went. I drew a clock in the sand to explain the situation and we sort of set up camp.

Communication was entirely by gesture and only two were needed: scoop hands and wave arms to side meant "I think I will go for a swim" and wrist swivelling meant "I am going to the caff." After an hour the Czech girl suddenly produced some plastic bats and a ball. She mimed some sort of doubles match. I mimed poorly shoulder and was excused play.

I went for a swim but something touched my leg and I had to get out.

By noon I had had more than enough but had no way to communicate this except by an interpretive dance which would have taxed Marcel Marceau. I swivelled my wrist, went to the caff, got them to call a taxi and went back to my car.

They are probably still looking for me and now I have to hide in case I bump into any of them again.

My knees are burnt.

After an hour the Czech girl suddenly produced some plastic bats and a ball.

Oh Mr. Nick, you do make us larf!  Thumbs:

Since everyone is out the water pressure is high. The shower here is cunningly designed to spray water into the top of the light fitting over the washbasin. It had to happen eventually   noooo:

There are companies that have specialist insurance policies for adrenaline junkies, I'm guessing Nick has had to have one of them.  rubschin:
