Title: Get yer thinking caps on please.
Post by: Miss Creant Commander of the picklement and baking BAb(Hons) on June 10, 2012, 12:46:34 PM
I know that it is short notice but on 30th of June we are having an event in the town for Hero For Heroes. We have applied to the charity for collection tins etc. not too sure that they will arrive in time but will have collection buckets as a stand by. I would like to be able to do a sponsored something on-line but what?

Some ideas would be good. Preferably fairly easy to do. confused: A sponsored silence is something that I could easily do.

Snoops or BM please could you make this a sticky for a day or two?

Thanks folks..

It doesn't really matter what you do for HfH... it is such a good cause that everybody should chip in...  Thumbs:

The army guys here do all sorts of silly stuff to raise money...  lol:

How about getting sponsored to carry an empty fridge around all the pubs... each pub donates something ( and gets a load of business when you all turn up) and you auction the fridge (and contents) at the end...?

As usual I seem to have got my wires crossed. It is actually Armed Forces Day www.armedforcesday.org.uk (http://www.armedforcesday.org.uk)

I will just run mine in conjunction with it.

I thought that a fridge in a wheelbarrow would do the job, need a volunteer for that one though. I need one for me to do so it's back to the drawing board.

Organise a Knit-a-thon.

Loads of wimmin in deck chairs sitting around the village/town square knitting. Collection tins next to each one.

This was done in Prestatyn a couple of years ago and got good publicity on local news, press etc and collected a fair few bob.

Doesn't matter what they are knitting but baby clothes produce a quick (in a day) result and the end products can be either auctioned off or sent to foreign climes via Oxfam or similar. Alternatively they could all knit socks for soldiers. Not as daft as it sounds but socks are, I am told, more difficult to knit. Certainly soldiers need socks and now-a-days they have to pay for their own.

From the knit--a-thon in Prestatyn grew this group.

PS Woodstock let herself be talked into joining in the big knitting day. Had a loverly time ~ knit 'n bitch just about summed it up.
