Snoopysick:
It really doesn't bear thinking about that the cost of sending a letter is shortly to become around 10/- but I couldn't help it sad24:
I fear it won't be long before the postal service is consigned to history, and the alternatives, privately operated services will need to be scrutinised closely for value for money.
I'm currently costing getting material shipped for a trade show abroad; the best option would seem to be excess baggage on the airline rather than pay the eye watering courier costs eeek:

I just use e mail now. The Royal Mail never saw that one coming noooo:

<Serious head on>
Ackchooly they did but successive governments took their profits (and now their pension scheme) leaving them in the state they now find themselves. Many of us connected with the Union did warn them 40 years ago that if they wanted a universal service it needed investment then. No we did not know about the internet back then but we foresaw the threat of "other means of communication". They failed to take heed then (when we could all still enjoy twice daily deliveries and up to 6 collections a day) and they have failed to take the necessary steps ever since.
Do not blame the unions ~ we tried to tell 'em! <End of serious>

To produce and send one invoice will now cost me £0.67.
When I started the magazine it cost £0.27
So yes I am fvcking annoyed that we laboured in vain. cussing:

E mail it

My U3A organisation asked a few months ago if we would be happy to receive the monthly magazine by e-mail. I agreed and have received said publication electronically. I have also still received it in the post. I've told them. noooo:

Oh, I remember the fuss about the pub sign in Telford (http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?hl=en&biw=1280&bih=637&gbv=2&tbm=isch&tbnid=AjMEeaIkaPvNlM:&imgrefurl=http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/905902&docid=v04xoQh577poLM&imgurl=http://s0.geograph.org.uk/photos/90/59/905902_b9b9eef9.jpg&w=640&h=480&ei=1URzT_fuMOGj0QWsgqUC&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=490&vpy=158&dur=849&hovh=193&hovw=258&tx=127&ty=101&sig=109134607844539960092&page=1&tbnh=135&tbnw=158&start=0&ndsp=18&ved=1t:429,r:2,s:0) when I lived there lol:

Curiously many of the businesses that advertise with me do not have the facility.
Since most are local one man businesses who deal in cash it will be cheaper to deliver the invoices myself despite fuel costs.
I offer a discount for annual payment (in advance) which will help.

Those with a "National" payment system (WeightWatchers, Spar, etc) like to pay by BACS transfer but still post me a confirmation that they have made their payments. whacky115

I still get a huge amount (well, a bit) of mail from Org.s that could easily transfer to electronic comms ... no wonder they're continually asking for donations rubschin:

Bugger me! eeek: That takes me back a bit!
'twas in Horsehay if I remember rightly (increasingly unlikeley as age catches up with me)

Twas Horsehay, I had me leaving meal/do there when I left Shropshire CC. The pub still shows on Streetview, but I suspect it's gone the way of many out of town pubs sad32:
