Title: Keyboard advice
Post by: GROWLER on November 07, 2011, 09:22:31 AM
I've gone through several keyboards over the years, mainly due to certain letters rubbing off, thus creating 'typos' cus I need to see said letters being a birof a typing dumbdork like.

So, what a good one that won't need replacing after 12 months?
This Microsoft one has actually been fairly good. Purchased from Maplin about 3 years ago, but some letters are becoming very faint now.

Friendly helpful advice would be most welcome, so that Nasty Nick thing can keep his gob shut if that's ok like?

Like most people I wear out the A and E on keyboards. That said I have recently resurrected an old Dell keyboard I threw in a cupboard years ago. It is noisy and clunky but works. Looking at it the smoothest keys are indeed the A, E, C and the space bar .... some seem hardly used...... I am sure Nick will confirm which are the most used letters in the English language

I don't like using keyboards with the sticky outty  keys.

I don't particularly care for the curvy wurvy ergonomic designs.

My keyboard has to be the same colour as my monitor  redface:

Just a thought, but if the keyboard itself is fine what about something like this:

http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/d77d/ (http://www.thinkgeek.com/computing/keyboards-mice/d77d/)

It may take a while to put them in place but its a cheaper option than replacing a keyboard that is otherwise working.

I did also find this on there:

$1799.99 for a feckin keybaord?  eeek:

Just found these Grumpy':
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Glow---dark-English-Keyboard-Stickers/dp/B004GTBBZ4/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320751967&sr=8-1-spell (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Glow---dark-English-Keyboard-Stickers/dp/B004GTBBZ4/ref=sr_1_sc_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320751967&sr=8-1-spell)

No user reviews on them, so dunno if they're any good or not.

Good idea, but just wondering how durable they'd be over the coming months , being stickers like? rubschin:
