Find me a decent politician first.

Remember the expenses scandal.

Well that was easy wasn't it.

And the role of an MP is fundamentally about making needed laws that work and making sure laws and spend is appropriate.  So what is needed is very convergent with what is needed for a barrister.  Except a decent barrister earns ~ 5 times what an MP or junior minister gets (some get well over 10 times) and they have decent job security (unlike an MP)

So is it any great surprise Grieve and Umunna are now doing well outside of politics and we have a third rate journalist as Prime Minister?

It was easy because you haven't supplied any reasons for your assertions.

Being a MP is coming up with ideas for laws and arguing for (or against if it's an opposition MP's idea) I suspect civil servants do the grunt work.

Feel free to disprove my point by showing how either of those are not 'decent politicians'.

And it is cabinet ministers (not MPs) job to come up with new ideas however yes they often use civil servants to bring forward ideas to support the minister's general aims

I have to agree with Uncle at the moment...  noooo:

And even if there are one or two 'gooduns', what can they achieve when overwhelmed with the views of 600+ wronguns...?  cry:

And your evidence of 600+ badduns is just what?  Can you even name 60 MPs without googling?

It doesn't take much in-depth research does it - this Covid thing has shown most of them to be utterly useless...

Too many of them have no real-world experience and many are chosen to meet some diversity quota...

Look at the likes of Dianne Abbot - the bar isn't set very high there is it and she has made it to the front bench!  lol:

Dianne Abbot can't be corrupt ~ she couldn't take a percentage if she tried.

Maybe but doesn't matter, I'm not the one making the assertion

I know the names of the MPs I've met and those Mrs K has met and I know most of them are good people

I also know that many people only remember bad apples and are always on the lookout to blame someone

And bang on cue, a fine example of those that rule over us... ::)

Tory MPs set to be suspended for trying to influence trial of ex-MP Charlie Elphicke

Quote from: The Torygraph
Three Tory MPs are set to be suspended over an "egregious" attempt to influence a former colleague's legal proceedings, the Commons Standards Committee has found.

Theresa Villiers, Natalie Elphicke, Sir Roger Gale, Adam Holloway and Bob Stewart were found to have fallen foul of the rules by seeking to interfere in a legal decision regarding ex-MP Charlie Elphicke.

The committee said former environment secretary Ms Villiers, senior Conservative Sir Roger, and Ms Elphicke should all be suspended from the House for one day, while all five were told to apologise.

"The letters signed and sent by the members in this case were an attempt improperly to influence judicial proceedings," the committee said.

"Such egregious behaviour is corrosive to the rule of law and, if allowed to continue unchecked, could undermine public trust in the independence of judges."

They should be barred and forced to go through a by election
