Prize Winning F1 Competition 2014 (aka golden coconut 2)
« on: March 12, 2014, 10:21:05 AM »

Prize:  A decent drink (or the equivalent in Twiglets or munny) to to the winner and the person, Stew or restored vehicle he/she's most fond of (ie a tenner*) will be awarded to the Player with most points at the end of the 2014 F1 season

Players  (alphabetically) Apey, Baldy, Bear, Boogs, Steve and Uncle.  Others can join at any time but missed GPs = missed points.

Points
Each race you predict (by posting or email to me) which drivers will be 1st, 2nd and third in the official results

Points will be 3 points for correct 1st, 2 points for correct 2nd and 1 pt for correct 3rd + bonuses

New predictions can be changed as often as you like but are locked at lights out for the race.  If no prediction it will default to your prediction for the last race.

If no prediction received for 1st race a Player will be given a random selection from the drivers who participated in Q3 qualification.

Bonuses:
Last race points are doubled

Points for a place are doubled if a place prediction is unique (to discourage last seasons Vettelisiming)

Drivers
The current drivers are

SV  Sebastian Vettel
DR  Daniel Ricciardo
FA  Fernando Alonso
KR  Kimi Raikkonen
LH  Lewis Hamilton
NR  Nico Rosberg
JB  Jenson Button
KM  Kevin Magnussen
PM  Pastor Maldonado
RG  Romain Grosjean
AS  Adrian Sutil
ES  Esteban Gutierrez
FM  Felipe Massa
VB  Valtteri Bottas
NH  Nico Hulkenberg
SP  Sergio Perez
DK  Daniil Kvyat
JV  Jean-Eric Vergne
JBi  Jules Bianchi
MC  Max Chilton
KK  Kamui Kobayashi

* the same tenner I'd probably have otherwise bunged BM for a donation

Indeed.  Some links to help all

http://www.formula1.com/teams_and_drivers/teams/
http://www.formula1.com/teams_and_drivers/drivers/

You can put in a place holder prediction and then change it any number of times you like it just as long as the new prediction is received before lights out

With that in mind my (placeholder) prediction for Oz is

1.  Hamilton
2.  Rosberg
3.  Massa

Having watched the beeb's review and trawled the F1 site I reckon Mercedes have the edge for the opening race(s) but I see Raikkonen out to prove something and also Red Bull to suffer mechanical problems. So my predictions are:

Rosberg
Raikkonen
Hamilton

Right, anyone can change or even join in prior to lights out but right now this is what we've got (the currently unique potentially bonus predictions shown in bold)

Growler has gone for

1. Alonso
2. Riciardo
3. Rossberg

Boogs has gone for

1. Hamilton
2. Ricciardo
3. Rosberg

Apey as above is

1. Hamilton
2. Alonso
3. Rosberg.

Uncle's is

1. Rosberg
2. Raikkonen
3. Hamilton

I'm going to change to

1. Hamilton
2. Rosberg
3. Magnussen

Baldy is currently defaulting to get the random selection from Q3.   And the randomatic has selected for Baldy

1. Massa  rubschin:
2. Magnussen
3. Alonso

Phew!  I'm going to have to automate this

Not sure at what point I have to make my decicion?  rubschin:

I thought it was before the start of the race.

If I am able to predict at this point:

Hamilton
Rosberg
Ricciardo

Ta and yes predictions can be input or revised any time up to lights out

but that now becomes your default.  Good cos that Massa to win from the randomiser was a crap prediction  He never does well at Oz

until now?

Just watched it on the Beeb

Raikkonen was a bit of a disappointment.
