I need a dog
« on: September 12, 2011, 08:16:51 AM »
The garden is not dog proof yet and it will be quite a large job to do.  There have been only a few times in my life when I have been 'dogless'.  The garden here backs onto a park so exercise would not be a problem. I need to get this sorted ASAP. sad24:

You don't need a fence, just the right length of chain.

I mostly despair

A long chain you say rubschin:  Umm

I would go mushy over puppies but I don't want the hassle involved.  Several things have to be taken into consideration.

It can't be too large as the house is relatively small.  it can't be a rat on a stick. sick2:

It has to OK with chickens. I had a bull mastiff which would munch my chickens at every given opportunity.

Not to decrepit/not too young

It can't be a working dog.

I will get one from a re-homing centre but it can't have too much baggage/damage.

So I don't want much.

I have a fondness for lurchers for many reasons so that may well be the way to go.  I plan to get this sorted before Christmas.

If I find a matching pair I will send one to Growler.
