Taking Love for your Pet a bit far?

SWWLTBO, as you know, lectures for 2 local colleges of FE:
At both she teaches "Creative Writing" as well as History and Latin.
Yesterday one of her 'students' (a middle aged woman) presented her with "Homework" for marking and comment. It was a Valentines Card that the woman had made for her DOG  ::)

Covered in sparkly plastic hearts and such the woman wanted "feedback" on the verse she had composed and written into the card. The homework had been to write a poem to a loved one as they had been looking at "The Romantics", in particular Love Poems and had been due in some weeks ago.

As she handed it over the woman said "I couldn't let you have this earlier because  XXXXXX (mercifully SWWLTBO has already forgotten the pooch's name) didn't want to part with it".  whacky115

I found the dining room floor covered in these little plastic hearts this morning and asked SWWLTBO where they had come from .... which is when I got the story. I did ask what "feedback" she had given the woman. For once in her life SWWLTBO was apparently "lost for words"  noooo:

I know someone in the VP who has a special box of christmas toys for their dog.  That gets put away every year like ...just so as the dog has christmas pressies too  whistle:

Meanwhile I have just been told by the boys that MiL received flowers and a card from her son, his partner and their fecking DOG!

What is the matter with people? I have owned and worked with dogs for years (until I decided the heartache of having them put down was more than I wanted) I have never sent any of my dogs a card and the only presents they ever got was as a training aid/reward for good work.

I know I use "Snoopy" as an on line persona but that is more in tribute to the genius of Charles Schultz than anything else. The whole philosophy of the "Peanuts" cartoon strip seems to me to sum up my life's ups and downs and Snoopy, as observer,  dreamer, put upon loner, but still dependant on others seems appropriate.

I have an unspoken agreement with the dogs.

They continue to perform the tasks for which they were bought and I will feed them every day and postpone the 'long sleep'.

Seemed to me that the pooch knew exactly where to place the ball for it to work. Even to the extent of moving the ball when necessary. Top Dog  :thumbsup:
