Today's adventure has been getting a baby blue tit out of the mouth of the cat, catch it and successfully re-release it

I'll claim credit for the first bit but Mrs K is just brilliant with birds and bats

Catnip works wonders in getting cats to release what they have caught without further injury.

We had three cats when we first moved down to Cornwall, it was the easiest way to get the voles off them without having to clean up blood and guts

Voles are just easy prey for cats.  For some reason ours have always tended to shout out their success when bringing them in and the vole falls to the ground.  Even the dumbest vole knows that's their one last chance and run straight under the furniture.  Blue Tits are a bit trickier but she (Pippi - don't ask it was her name when we got her) let it go for a millisecond and was just about to get it again when I thrust the notebook betwixt the two.  And then the blue tit flew into the curtains while I held Pippi at bay with a keyboard.  Elegant it were not

Ours used to bring in frogs - they scream!
Found one mummified behind the washing machine.
