Annoyingly #2
« on: September 29, 2009, 02:48:25 PM »
Lil Bruvver has need of a larger car for a week ~ his daughter and family are over from Swizzyland ~ so I said "Take my Landrover and leave me your Fiat Seincento Sports" ....... The Fiat is very small, virtually an old fashioned mini in size but it'll get me around for a week.

So I make sure he is covered on my insurance (Second named driver that'll be an additional £30.90 please) and he turns up this morning with his Fiat and takes the Landrover.

He had told me in a frantic phone call on Saturday that his MOT would run out on Thursday and he had forgotten about it. With modern technology, much used by North Wales Police, they can scan your number plate and check MOT, Tax and Insurance. Anything amiss and they will pull you before you have travelled another mile so I arranged that my local garage, where I have an account, would MOT the damned thing today.

They just called to say "Sorry but the Front Discs are pitted and need to be replaced ~ also the rear brake pipes are corroded and need to be replaced. We can do the work tomorrow, with luck, and issue the MOT Certificate when it's all done."

So I have no car today and will now have no car tomorrow either  Banghead

(i) They allow five days grace.
(ii) They cannot crush without notifying the owner.
(iii) The Garage is on private land and ALL cars are locked in their compound overnight.

Next!

It's his car ~ goes like sh*t off a shovel and suits his needs. He is normally a single occupant so why would he need anything bigger?

For a single person who covers minimal miles but is old enough to remember the fun of the original mini this ticks many of the right boxes.

I took it out last evening (with Minor to take him to fencing club) and it really is quick ~ surprised me TBH.

I have to say I would not personally want one as it is bit too small for me at 6' for a long journey but to nip around town it would be a car that I would buy for the wife and borrow often.
