Indeed it was. So much for it looking like a close run thing. John McCain is on live at the moment conceding defeat, a very gracious speeech, but I do realise that these things are well prepared

I suspect that the republican effort this time around was nothing more than a chance to introduce Palin to the public at large in preparation for her shot at the presidency in 4 or 8 years time. Anti Bush sentiment had buggered the chances of the republicans getting another term no matter who their candidate was.
