Nuclear takeover bid called off
« on: August 01, 2008, 06:31:21 AM »
Quote from: BBC Web Shite
A deal that would have involved the sale of most of the UK's nuclear power stations to a French state-owned energy firm now appears uncertain.

EDF had been expected to announce it was buying British Energy which owns eight reactors in the UK.

However, EDF put out a statement saying conditions were not right for it to proceed with the £12bn deal.

Oh dear, oh dear... more bad news for broon...  noooo:

He was planning on selling desperate to sell off the family silver to put £4B in the bank (so he could give it away to assorted good causes no doubt).

What is the betting that EDF get to buy it at a knock-down price of say, no more than £8B?  whistle:

What we could do is let the foreign investors build them and once they're running nationalise the industry. After all if Nasser could do it to the Suez Canal...  rubschin:
