I have bought fake mozarella. Mozarella made from tofu. Do you reckon it will melt on a pizza?

There is one born every minute ~ bean curd is what you have there, BEAN CURD!

I draw your attention to the definition below. The first sentence says it all really.

Quote
Tofu is soya bean curd made from coagulated soya milk. Soya beans are soaked, crushed and heated to produce soya milk to which a coagulating agent such as calcium sulphate or calcium chloride is added. The resulting soya curd is then pressed to give tofu. Tofu is sometimes known as soya cheese, and is sold as blocks packaged in water. It can be bought as silken tofu, which is soft and creamy in texture, or as a denser, firmer version. The firmer kind may also be purchased smoked or marinated. Tofu tends be fairly bland tasting and is best used in recipes where flavour is imparted by other ingredients. Firm tofu may be marinated, fried, stir-fried, deep-fried, sauteed, diced and added to salads or casseroles. Silken tofu can be used for dips, spreads, sauces and sweet dishes. As well as having a high protein content, tofu also contains calcium, iron, and vitamins B1, B2 and B3.

So you see it is a REALY NATURAL product ~ not!

I care not for whether it is natural!

WILL IT MELT AND BE CHEESE LIKE MOZARELLA ON PIZZA?

I WANT PIZZA!

I have now enquired, from Mrs S#2, what culinary delights she had planned to titillate my jaded palate with this evening.

She has an aubergine and "plans" to add it to some potatoes, onions, tomatoes and cheese. sick2:

Next to the wasp and tofu an aubergine has to be about the most useless thing in the entire universe.

She buys them "Because they are so beautiful"

I throw them away because there is nothing one can usefully do with them and they sit in the fridge looking ..... purple.

We do not seem to be speaking at the moment.   ::)

But they are pretty!

I slice them thinly and then wrap them around sundried tomatoes, mozarella and basil and stick them under the grill or on the bbq. Or at least I used to.  sad24: Now I'll have to wrap them round sodding curd!  sad24:

Pretty they maybe but tasteless they most certainly are. evil:

I Said they may be pretty but they are also bloody tasteless. It's like eating limp blotting paper.

Sorry ~ I may have forgotten, what is the problem with cheese?

And I wouldn't mind if she made mousaka ~ but she doesn't like it!

I@m sure it will be in a post somewhere but have you suddenly gained an allergy to dairy products or have you been banned from having them Wenchy?  rubschin:
