Vesta. No, VESTA, not Vista.
« on: March 01, 2008, 06:36:22 PM »
On a trip to the supermarket today Mrs TG spotted and purchased a Vesta Beef curry.

When she spotted it on the shelf her basilisk eyes lit up. It seems her late father used to make it for her when she was a kid. Obviously, we bought some and it now awaits consumption.

I threw the packet in the freezer when we got home which drew personal abuse as it seems to be powdered or summat.

I remember TV adverts for it years ago.

Are there other pre-packaged foods pubgoers remember? Things you cant get anymore but if some publicity savvy company re-launched it you would be tempted to buy?

TBH ... Yes when newly married (for the first time) I remember that we would buy a couple of those Vesta meals, a bottle of Blue Nun, invite the couple from the upstairs flat down for supper and considered it the height of sophistication. Sometimes we would play cards afterwards!
(Think "Whatever happened to the Likely Lads" and that about sums us up  ::) )

God ~ I feel old suddenly. sad24:
