Straw urges more non-jail terms
« on: February 22, 2008, 10:14:05 AM »
Quote from: BBC Web Shite
Justice Secretary Jack Straw has asked magistrates to consider non-custodial sentences in some cases to help ease prison overcrowding.

The prison population in England and Wales has risen to a record high of 82,006 - 21 places short of capacity.

I reckon Brown is missing a huge opportunity to balance the books here…

Why not just do away with the police altogether? If they actually catch anybody they are invariably let off… if they are repeat offenders and actually go to court they’ll almost certainly get let off with a ‘community service order (i.e. let off) and if they actually get sent to prison they get to walk out or escape from hospital…

Why not just save the money and not bother with the police and the courts in the first place.  Banghead
