Having been in love with Mrs S#1 I have to admit that I still am. I don't think that one can ever stop being in love BUT many who think they are in love and then profess loathing etc when it all goes wrong were probably infatuated or simply in love with the idea of being in love  ~ neither of which is a good basis for marriage. We are, however, capable of loving more than once in a lifetime ...... fortunately.
What I have also discovered is that one can live equally well without love as with it.

I shall leave you to consider the Snoopy philosophy of relationships.
I used to have a handle on life but it broke.

Returing to topic I see today that the Women's Institute is putting its not inconsiderable lobbying weight behind a campaign to bring back "Asylums" for the mentally illl. They say "Don't build new prisons, build new secure asylums and transfer the mentally ill from prison to where they may get help" I have to say they are right. Look at the figures ~ Prison is now the default option for those with uncontrolled mental problems and that is wrong. The WI solution would, of course, solve the prison over-crowding issue as well.

Yes, "Wormwood Scrubs home for the bewildered" sounds much nicer.
