Universal Credit - Low paid workers screwed over again.
« on: June 16, 2016, 10:06:27 AM »
This month, the government's latest money saving decision comes into play regarding Universal Credit. What used to happen if you were in low paid work was that the first £111 of your wages would be exempt from the calculation when working out deductions, that has now stopped. So now if for example someone had a monthly allocation of around £717 and earned say £1100 a month they get less than £3 instead of around £70. Now for someone who is in work but has low earnings that money can make a hell of a difference each month so why the hell is the government penalising people who are in low paid jobs. You may have brought in the 'living wage' but that doesn't help the minimum wage workers who are too young to be eligible.
The universe is run by the complex interweaving of three elements. Energy, matter, and enlightened self-interest.
