FWIW (and cue abuse from Pissouri?) I think CMD got it about right.  Erased those gits plotting evil, agreed to admit a fraction of what popular sentiment would have us take and then says it's over 4 years  and even better none of those marauding hooligans at Calais qualify

I do feel a tad worried about the drone strike. We not at war, they haven't actually done anything apart from plotting and it seems to me to be more state sanctioned murder than a legitimate and defensible action. 'tis a slippery slope.

I know what you mean, but if ISIS had drones I doubt they would hesitate to use them at random against any of us.
As far as they are concerned they are in a war, just no paperwork has been completed.

CMD was in an impossible position though.  It's hardly moral to refuse to protect your own citizens because some could interpret that 2013 debate as saying he had to get MPs approval first.

No shortage of precedent there. Locking up a yob who carries a gun/knife because he might shoot/stab someone still gets my vote.

I agree that blowing them to bits by remote control is a bit more extreme, but it does offer a practical solution with broadly the same outcome.

These people are unlikely to give up ISIS and come home to lead a productive life in our society.

Yes we're unlikely to ever know what the exact intel was but it certainly looks like he was actively directing resources in the UK for murder, possibly mass murder.  Call me a big softie but if that's the only reliable way to stop him, that means take him out in my book.
