Annoying Rattle
« on: June 12, 2015, 12:27:05 PM »
The has motor developed an annoying rattle. It comes from the rear and at first I thought that it was just something loose in the boot. Emptied said boot and drove around the block; rattle still there. Back on the driveway I finally narrowed down to the something in the boot door. After opening and shutting the boot door a few times I pinned it down. Something had come loose in the light cluster:

Manual was of no use as step 1 to replacing bulbs was 'open boot and remove trim' with a little diagram that unfortunately bore no likeness to the actual vehicle. Banghead Couldn't work out how to get at it, certainly not without the risk of breaking something.

Took vehicle off to dealer. Mechanic take look, says it's a sealed unit and will have to replace the entire cluster. Also because it's classed as 'trim' it's not covered under warranty.  cussing:

Will cost a few coins short of £100  Shocked:

Perhaps I should, he could reverse it for me and then I'd be able to claim a new light from the insurance  rubschin:

How about injecting some glue (polyurethane foam?) into the area and see if it captures the offending item?
Well, whatever, nevermind

Holding it in place is not really the problem, it's covering the reversing lightbulb.

Ah

Surely that makes it a defective reversing light so not 'trim'

Have to say I'd go kick a peasant or two (in effigy of course) and fork out the £100 in very bad grace

Well, whatever, nevermind
