More trouble for Tony, it looks like his bribe to get back into the good graces of the party gift to Labour candidates is being hammered by the party faithful.

Quote
Although he has said he has no desire to return to front line politics in the UK, friends say he is distressed by the way the party he led to three election victories has turned its back on him.

I wonder why that would be, your track record while in office aside perhaps they don't want to be connected to someone who does PR work for dictators.  rubschin:

A Labour candidate for the general election has said she is turning down a £1,000 donation from Tony Blair.

Councillor Lesley Brennan is standing for the Dundee East Westminster seat on 7 May.

It has been reported that former prime minister Mr Blair is donating £1,000 to 106 Labour candidates.

Ms Brennan tweeted: "Received donation from Tony Blair. Instinct was to not accept. Discussed with team. Dundee East is not accepting the £1000."

True but it's easy to say no when you realise given the popularity of the party in Scotland you haven't got a snowball in hell's chance of getting a seat at the election anyway.

Blair has finally quit as Middle Eastern Peace Envoy. On the one hand it's about bloody time but on the other he shouldn't have been given the option to quit, the greasy self obsessed fantasist should have been sacked in disgrace long ago.

Well I suppose he has experience of dealing with evil bastards given his consultancy work, still can't help thinking this is going to be another case of him taking the cash while doing absolutely fuck all because it gets in the way of his businesses.  noooo:

You arrogant self important gobshite, how dare you stand there and declare that the terror threat has intensified in the last 10 years and that we all need to fight against it as if you are some kind of expert. Perhaps if you had been actually acting in your role as peace envoy to the middle east instead of filling your pockets with dictator's gold at every opportunity the threat we are now all under would be far less.

Tell you what Tone, why don't you put your money where your mouth is for once and head over to join the volunteers who are fighting against these terrorists.

Well to point out the obvious that isn't going to stick is it when events a week after that Colin Powell letter showed he'd misread Blair as Bush was forced by him to go to the UN.

Well, whatever, nevermind

Maybe not locked up but a class action suit from all the families of servicemen killed or wounded during that clusterfuck on the grounds that he had already decided to send in troops before evidence was 'found' to justify the act could have a damn good chance of wiping out a good chunk of those millions he has 'earned' over the years.  rubschin:
